While Roma is fresh from thrashing Bologna 5-1, Torino coach Marco Giampaolo is somehow hanging onto his job on Thursday night.
After three games without a win, Roma showed up against Bologna. It was certainly an action-packed game at the Stadio Dall’Ara, as Roma beat Bologna 5-1 in a dominant first half and there were another three goals disallowed. That is not taking into account the number of sitters missed, saves made by Nicola Ravaglia and Pau Lopez, and woodwork rattled. Incredibly, all six goals that ended up making it onto the scoresheet were netted in the crazy first half. Those included a comical Bryan Cristante's own goal to give Bologna a lift.
The Disciplinary Commission has handed Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante a one-match suspension for blasphemy. The Giallorossi midfielder has been sanctioned by the Sports Judge for having uttered a blasphemous expression during Saturday’s match against Bologna. Cristante will therefore miss Thursday’s match against Torino in Serie A Week 12.
Roma (3-4-2-1): Pau Lopez; Ibanez, Smalling, Kumbulla; Peres, Veretout, Pellegrini, Spinazzola; Pedro, Mkhitaryan; Dzeko
Suspended: Cristante
Injured: Mancini, Santon, Pastore, Zaniolo
There are no good stats when you are struggling and almost last in the standings, but Torino fans surely were bothered by the fact that each of the last three teams who conceded at least 27 goals in the opening 11 Serie A rounds ended up bottom of the table that season. They have attacked Salvatore Sirigu on social media as the goalkeeper was caught smiling on the pitch after the Granata’s 3-2 home defeat against Udinese. Torino is involved in the survival race as they only managed six points in 11 Serie A games so far. They are only above last-placed Crotone who won the first game of the season against Spezia and drew with Udinese. That would be enough to make Torino fans angry, but the Granata supporter has also been upset by their captain Salvatore Sirigu who was caught smiling after Saturday’s 3-2 home defeat at hands of Udinese.
Torino managed an extraordinary comeback with two goals in 60 seconds, but still capitulated 3-2 to Udinese in this thriller. Soualiho Meite was robbed to spark the opening goal by Ignacio Pussetto, then Roberto Pereyra set up Rodrigo De Paul for a precise finish with the inside of the right boot. The Granata exploded into life with two goals in under a minute, Federico Bonazzoli creating the first for Andrea Belotti – his 100th for the club – and then netting the second himself. However, Udinese still wasn’t done and turned the game on its head again with Ilija Nestorovski. Ricardo Rodriguez was so unlucky not to make it 3-3 when his free-kick cracked the crossbar.
Torino (3-5-2): Sirigu; Lyanco, Nkoulou, Rodriguez; Singo, Meite, Rincon, Linetty, Vojvoda; Bonazzoli, Belotti
Suspended: None
Injured: Millico, Murru, Baselli, Ujkani
On a yellow card: Rincon

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
