Rotherham host Derby at the Aesseal New York Stadium (Rotherham) in the postponed 20th round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 7 pm (UK) on Tuesday, February 2.
Rotherham come into this match on the back a 1-3 defeat against automatic promotion candidates Swansea (2-1) after going three games withoout a defeat in the second-tier (W2, D1). The result has seen the Millers in the relegation zone as they slipped to 22nd place in the standings. Derby, on the other hand, head into the midweek game after winning three games on the trot in the league, which have pushed them up the table to 18th after spending much of the campaign in the bottom-three. The Rams won 1-0 against Bristol on Saturday and will hope they’ll keep the momentum going as they play their next five matches away from Pride Park, something Rotherham will hope can derail one of their nearest rivals.
Rotherham’s manager Paul Warne will point to last week's 3-0 victory over Middlesbrough as proof that they have the ability to upset the better teams, while they were also the last team to score a goal against Derby in a 1-0 win at Pride Park in the reverse fixture only two weeks ago.The Millers have recently increased their own chances to escape the relegation with seven points from four games, although Paul Warne has a job on his hands to lift his players after the defeat to Swansea.
With Rotherham's wing-backs system a good match for Swansea's 3-5-2 formation, a tight start to the match suggested this could be a stern examination of the Swans' promotion credentials. But despite the hosts' early efforts to crowd the midfield and launch searching long balls into their penalty area, Cooper's side gradually took control once they were able to keep possession and stretch the game and ultimately, win comfortably.
When Rooney was appointed as the interim boss of Derby, supporters naturally had doubts over whether the England legend was the right man to lead a survival fight at one of the biggest clubs outside of the Premier League. However, the change in the dugout currently looks inspired, with the Rams now sitting five points clear of the relegation zone on the back of three successive 1-0 wins.
Rooney's Rams rise to 18th - 14 points adrift of the play-off places - after their seventh league win of the season against Bristol. Five of them now have been 1-0, but their home goal tally this season is just 7 from 14 games and that surely has to improve if they are to climb much higher. However, the only negative from Derby's afternoon was a serious 36th-minute injury to Krystian Bielik, a key figure in the recent revival.

Rotherham are looking to record a league double over the Rams for the first time since 1965/66 campaign, even though they the visitor have won twice as many matches – Derby have won 8 to Rotherham’s 4 - in their last 16 meetings. However, they are without a win at Rotherham since 2005.
Ironically, the result which seemingly acted as the catalyst for Rooney's side to step up a level over their last three outings was the Millers’ awway win in the reverse fixture on January 16. The run of results since Rooney was handed the reins is barely believable, with 22 points being collected from 13 matches, including also eight clean sheets.
