Rotherham host Reading at the Aesseal New York Stadium (Rotherham) in the 33rd round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 3 pm (UK) on Saturday, February 27. Read our reasons for Rotherham vs Reading prediction and betting tips.
Both Sides are keen to end their losing streaks and earn three valuable Championship points coming into this match. Rotherham are coming into this match on a four-game losing run – against Cardiff and Nottingham at home and Bournemouth and Norwich away. As a result, they go into the weekend two points from safety in 22nd place, with at least one game in hand over all of the teams around them. On the other hand, Reading are having an excellent season under former Chicago Fire manager Velijko Paunovic, having earned 51 points from 31 matches. However, the Royals have suffered a little dent in form with only one win on both sides of back-to-back defeats (W1, D1, L4), but still remain in 5th ahead of Saturday.
Rotherham manager Paul Warne says that he should take the blame for the Millers' narrow 1-0 home loss to Nottingham Forest - their fourth Championship defeat on the spin. A scrappy game was decided midway through the second half when ex-Millers target Ryan Yates netted from close in. Warne himself admitted that the better side won on the night and candidly acknowledged that he was at fault for not freshening up the starting line-up - with the Millers' boss of the view that several looked jaded after a couple of away games and three games in six days.
A forgettable night was compounded by the fact that Michael Ihiekwe picked up his tenth booking of the season and will serve a two-match suspension and miss the games against Reading and Sheffield Wed. Also, a fellow key defender Richard Wood will miss the weekend match with the Royals, too, with a groin injury. With Birmingham's defeat by leaders Norwich earlier on Tuesday, the Millers could have edged out of the drop zone with victory, but could not find the net against a resilient Forest side.
Meanwhile, Reading suffered their fourth defeat in five matches on Tuesday night as they were beaten 1-0 by Wycombe Wanderers. A scrappy goal by Fred Onyedinma four minutes after the break divided the sides but the Royals were left to rue another Lucas Joao missed penalty - his third of the season - midway through the second half. They are coming off the tracks just at the wrong time in the season and could drop down a place if AFC Bournemouth beat Cardiff on Wednesday night and the gap to seventh place is narrowing by the week.
Reading’s worrying slump in form down to lack of impact players, poor subs, injuries, but most importantly, the lack of consistency. They are simply not picking up the results required to sustain a play-off push after picking up just four points from the past 18 on offer. It is by chance more than anything their league position has not been impacted more by the miserable run of results, meaning Reading now have very little margin for error over the final 14 games if they want to be battling it out for a promotion spot in May.

Rotherham meet Reading winless in their last three home league games against them (D2 L1). Since losing 2-1 in April 2015, Reading are unbeaten in their last seven league meetings with Rotherham (W4 D3).
After starting 2021 in promising fashion, it’s all gone south for Rotherham, recording four straight Championship defeats - all by a one-goal margin - which has dragged the ‘Millers’ straight back into the relegation zone. They’ve now registered three more losses after 30 games than they did when they were last relegated and that could increase here against a Reading side that’s won four of the last six H2Hs.
BetingKick’s Rotherham vs Reading prediction is: both teams to score – NO

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
