Russia hosts Sweden in an international friendly this Thursday evening at the VEB Arena in Moscow.
Both sides have already qualified for next year's European Championships so this should be a relaxed friendly match with both coaches ready to experiment and check the current form and shape of the selected players. Russia is in the good momentum, with only one loss in their last ten matches across all major contests, and that too was at home against Belgium in the Euro qualifiers. They are on a three-game winning streak in the schedule, following a 2-3 win on the road against Hungary last time out in the UNL fixture. They also won comfortably against Serbia. Both wins with at least three goals scored suggest that Russia finally found their scoring touch. Russia also got four goals past Scotland or Cyprus with San Marino conceding nine and five in two matches from the team that reached the last eight at the previous World Cup.
Russia boss Stanislav Cherchesov has lost a number of the players who featured in their September squad, with the likes of Monaco’s Aleksandr Golovin and Lokomotiv Moscow’s Fyodor Smolov out of action due to injuries. Key men Artem Dzyuba and Denis Cheryshev have been called up, and with them, in the team, Russia can score against any team in the world. Dzyuba has the strength and stamina to cope with robust central defenders but also has the skills to find space in the penalty box and score. Cherychev is a pacey winger who can be very dangerous in a 1 on 1 situation and with a hard-working midfield Russia have already his creativity can boost their attacking options.
Injured: Roman Neustadter, Yegor Sorokin, Rifat Zhemaletdinov, Aleksandr Golovin, Fyodor Smolov, Yevgeni Lutsenko
Russia (4-2-3-1): Anton Shunin, Mario Fernandes, Andrey Semenov, Georgi Dzhikiya, Fyodor Kudryashov, Magomed Ozdoev, Roman Zobnin, Denis Cheryshev, Anton Miranchuk, Daler Kuzyaev, Artem Dzyuba
Sweden has lost their last two fixtures in their schedule, both in the UNL campaign. They had a decent performance in the Euro qualifiers this season and will look to build on that in their visit. Sweden was defeated in both of their UEFA Nations League games, falling to high-level opponents in the form of France and Portugal. Before that though, they’d won four matches in a row.
In terms of head-to-head results, the advantage in this game lies with Sweden. They hold four wins over Russia compared to two losses, and most recently the Swedes defeated the Russians in the UEFA Nations League action in November 2018.
Sweden has seen forward Sebastian Andersson withdraw from the current squad with an injury, while a handful of other players selected in September have not returned to the squad due to their fitness concerns. Captain Andreas Granqvist also remains sidelined. For the most part though, Janne Andersson has a full-strength side. Dejan Kulusevski is a new great star for the Swedish team that is looking for the next leader after Ibrahimović retired from the national squad. Pacey, a skillful winger had a great season in Parma, and playing on the highest level in Juventus will just help him to gain more quality. Emil Forsberg also started well in the new season for Leipzig and could be a real treat from the set-pieces and provider of quality assists for his teammates.
Injured: Andreas Granqvist, Sebastian Andersson, John Guidetti, Isaac Kiese Thelin
Sweden (4-4-2): Robin Olsen, Emil Krafth, Filip Helander, Victor Lindelof, Ludwig Augustinsson, Emil Forsberg, Kristoffer Olsson, Gustav Svensson, Dejan Kulusevski, Alexander Isak, Marcus Berg

Both teams to score seems to be the most reasonable bet.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
