Sampdoria was an easy rival for Juventus in the first week of the Seria A but now they must try to find first points in the new season because promoted Benevento is coming to Genoa.
Samp coach Claudio Ranieri was very bitter after their opening day 3-0 defeat to Juventus, as he talked about how his players didn't have the passion to stand up to the challenge and face the league champion with a good attitude and fighting spirit. That must change in the incoming matches that Sampdoria must win if they want to avoid the relegation fight in this season. They need more consistency in every department but Fabio Quagliarella and Manolo Gabbiadini must score more if they want a better place in the standings. The quality of these strikers is awesome and they could score a wonder goal but Samp fans would love to see more of them in this season. With the creative ability of Gaston Ramirez, this team needs to be putting more balls into the back of the net, and this is going to be the probably only way they stay out of the relegation battle.
Sampdoria has conceded goals in each of their last 10 Serie A TIM games against newly-promoted sides, after keeping a clean sheet in five of their previous seven. Fabio Quagliarella should return to the starting XI in a more attack-minded formation, but Manolo Gabbiadini is still out of action. Quagliarella found the net in his 16th consecutive Serie A seasons: only three players have achieved this feat in the 21st century: Roberto Baggio (18), Alberto Gilardino (17), and Francesco Totti (23 – the most ever).
Sampdoria (4-4-2): Audero; Bereszynski, Colley, Tonelli, Augello; Depaoli, Thorsby, Ekdal, Jankto; Bonazzoli, Quagliarella
Suspended: None
Injured: Gabbiadini
Benevento is welcomed back to Serie A following a record-breaking Serie B run. Their fixture of the first round was postponed to September 30 because Inter were given extra time due to their Europa League Final participation, ending the 2019-20 season in late August.
Pippo Inzaghi’s team won the Serie B title months before the end with over 20 points from second place, but the top flight is a very different game. They brought in numerous new players, including ex-Sampdoria forward Gianluca Caprari, who may well start with former Genoa striker Gianluca Lapadula. Roberto Insigne, younger brother of Napoli captain Lorenzo, completes the attacking trio.
Strong defense and grinding out results against mid-table clubs will be regarded as Benevento’s best chance at staying up this year. They will probably have problems in the attack and lack of goals could be their biggest issue so they need to make them count when they do happen by being solid at the back. In their only previous season in the Italian top-flight (2017/18) Benevento lost 29 games, the most defeats by a team in a single Serie A season.
Benevento (4-3-3): Montipo; Maggio, Glik, Caldirola, Letizia; Ionita, Schiattarella, Hetemaj; Caprari, Lapadula, R Insigne
Suspended: None
Injured: Viola, Barba

It is early to predict what will happen at the end of the season but both sides must show the capability to earn points against rivals that are in the same level of quality. Under 2,5 goals will be our bet because both teams will prefer to reduce the errors and build up to something from the defensive approach.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
