Sampdoria ended their run of seven winless games with a win over Hellas Verona and it is expected to beat strugglers Crotone.
Claudio Ranieri felt Sampdoria ‘deserved' the 2-1 win against a very good’ Hellas Verona on Wednesday. Albin Ekdal and Valerio Verre helped the Blucerchiati secure three points against the Gialloblu at the Bentegodi and Ranieri was happy to secure the points that had ‘lacked’ in recent weeks. Sampdoria secured their first win since October 27 against Salernitana in the Coppa Italia and their first win in Serie A since the 3-1 win against Atalanta three days prior. The Blucerchiati sit 11th in the League and Ranieri thinks his team has continued to build on the work that saved the club last term. Sampdoria has two home games against Crotone and Sassuolo before the winter break and restarts with a trip to Roma on January 3.
Sampdoria pair Bartosz Bereszynski and Keita Balde have returned to training following muscle injuries, but Saturday's clash could come too soon for both. Winger Antonio Candreva continues to train alone after being dropped as a response to his attitude in training, with coach Claudio Ranieri apparently demanding an apology before he can rejoin the group. Striker Manolo Gabbiadini will undergo surgery on a groin injury, so Antonio La Gumina could continue in attack.
Sampdoria (4-4-2): Emil Audero (GK); Alex Ferrari, Maya Yoshida, Omar Colley, Tommaso Augello; Jakub Jankto, Albin Ekdal, Adrien Silva, Mikkel Damsgaard; Valerio Verre, Fabio Quagliarella
Coach Giovanni Stroppa acknowledged Crotone were content to defend against Udinese, as ‘the ends justify the means.’ Just days after their first victory of the Serie A season, beating Spezia 4-1, the Squali reverted to type with a 0-0 draw at the Dacia Arena. Udinese did all the attacking and Ignacio Pussetto had two goals ruled offside, but Crotone held on for the goalless draw. The Friulani saw their run of three consecutive victories come to a halt, as Rodrigo De Paul’s knee knock limited his influence in the second half and Crotone players must congratulate their goalkeeper Alex Cordas for a few decisive saves. After a bad start to the new season, Crotone is adjusting well and could be more dangerous in the upcoming weeks.
Crotone's influential midfield pair Luca Cigarini and Ahmed Benali were out of action in midweek and are unlikely to be risked, so forward Junior Messias may continue in a deeper role to cover Benali's absence. Argentinian defender Lisandro Magallan, on loan from Ajax, returns from suspension and should be included in Giovanni Stroppa's back three of a familiar 3-5-2 setup, in which Emmanuel Riviere could again join Simy upfront.
Crotone (3-5-2): Alex Cordaz (GK); Lisandro Magallan, Luca Marrone, Sebastiano Luperto; Pedro Pereira, Salvatore Molina, Jacopo Petriccione, Eduardo Henrique, Arkadiusz Reca; Junior Messias, Simy

Sampdoria has better individual quality and it is very hard to imagine that their attackers will miss what Udinese failed to convert a few days ago. The home win is the most reasonable betting option.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
