It has been a troubled start to the campaign for Sampdoria and Lazio but the Roman side must do without Ciro Immobile and Manuel Lazzari on this trip to Genoa.
Samp suffered a shock defeat to Benevento, but went some way to making up for that by surprising Fiorentina at the Stadio Franchi. They need to end their Lazio taboo at Marassi to find some consistency, though. Stat fact: Samp have just one win from their last 17 Serie A meetings with Lazio, drawing three and losing 13. That includes four consecutive home defeats.
They could use a little bit of magic from the last match when Valerio Verre lobbed the winner off the bench as Sampdoria picked up their first points in a 2-1 win against Fiorentina on Friday. Fiorentina started the match dominating possession but lacked the little extra to cut through, and when they did, Kouame wasted a massive opportunity. Dusan Vlahovic tested Audero from long range, but it was Sampdoria who came closest when Gaetano Castrovilli kneed the ball off the bar at the wrong end of the pitch. Five minutes before half time, Federico Ceccherini pulled down Fabio Quagliarella in the box and the veteran made no mistakes from the penalty spot and gave Sampdoria the lead.
In the second half, both sides came close in a game lacking intensity, but it was Vlahovic who found the back of the net. Milenkovic’s attempt was deflected and found its way to the Serbian’s feet six yards from the line. When Fiorentina pushed for a late winner, it was at the other end it happened for Sampdoria, as goalkeeper Emil Audero found Verre with a ball over the top. The former Hellas Verona player did everything right, a perfect touch, and a naughty chip sent the Blucerchiati in the lead. Federico Chiesa was close at the end when the last finish of the match went off the post and the three points travel with Sampdoria back to Genoa.
Sampdoria (4-4-2): Audero; Bereszynski, Yoshida, Colley, Augello; Candreva, Thorsby, Ekdal, Jankto; Ramirez, Quagliarella

Lazio picked up one point from the last two matches, including a chaotic 1-1 draw with Inter which saw Immobile sent off and therefore suspended. Lazzari picked up an injury on international duty and is also out, along with Luiz Felipe and Adam Marusic, while new signing Vedat Muriqi is probably only ready for the bench. Marco Parolo might therefore have to be a makeshift center-back.
Lazio and Inter played a hard game at the Olimpico, with two red cards and some embarrassing play-acting. Stefan Radu returned in defense, with Luiz Felipe, Senad Lulic, and Vedat Muriqi out, but Radu’s comeback did not last long, as he pulled up clutching his hamstring after 16 minutes and had to be replaced by Bastos. Samir Handanovic was the first to make a genuine save, reacting well at the near top corner when Luis Alberto managed to turn and get his shot away amid a crowd. The deadlock was broken moments later when Ivan Perisic went on a mazy run down the left, his effort was deflected and Lautaro pounced for the finish to squirm under Thomas Strakosha from 12 yards.
Things got worse for Lazio because Adam Marusic went off injured too, allowing Mohamed Fares to make his debut just days after completing the transfer from SPAL. There was anxiety at the half-time whistle when Bastos went down with apparent muscular issues, so the substitute had to be substituted by Marco Parolo.
Lazio drew when Francesco Acerbi floated a cross from the left and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic towered above Perisic to nod in from the tightest of angles. Arturo Vidal brought down Immobile from behind, bent down to apologize and the striker flapped at him with an angry hand. A straight red card for a ‘reaction foul’ for Immobile and a booking for the Inter midfielder. Marcelo Brozovic’s attempt was deflected to bounce off the upright, Stefano Sensi and Patric both went to get the ball at the touchline. Sensi shoved Patric, catching him ever so slightly in the face, and it was a red card for the Inter midfielder.
Lazio (3-5-2): Strakosha; Patric, Parolo, Acerbi; D Anderson, Milinkovic-Savic, Leiva, Luis Alberto, Fares; Caicedo, Correa
Suspended: Immobile
Injured: Luiz Felipe, Marusic, Lazzari, PereiraBest betting sites

Lazio played some good football earlier this season and Sampdoria is inconsistent so an away win with some goals could be the right bet for this game. Milinković-Savić is in good form and could continue with goalscoring after a great international break for him.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
