Sampdoria and Sassuolo face each other at Stadio Luigi Ferraris in what could be a very entertaining match with a lot of goals.
Claudio Ranieri wasn’t entirely happy with Sampdoria after their 3-1 win over Crotone. ‘We must learn to control the game too.’ The Blucerchiati notched up their second consecutive victory after a midweek 2-1 result away to Hellas Verona. Fabio Quagliarella came off the bench on the hour mark and within five minutes scored a goal, while he had another disallowed for Antonio Candreva’s offside position. Candreva was dropped last week as punishment for a locker room row, then allowed on as a substitute.
Sampdoria confirmed their counter-attacking capabilities and that Fabio Quagliarella still knows where the goal is as they swept Crotone aside 3-1. The Blucerchiati struck twice in the first half with similar moves, as first Jakub Jankto set up the goal for Mikkel Damsgaard, then scored the second himself from a wayward Antonino La Gumina effort. Nwankwo Simy converted a penalty for Crotone after the scintillating Arkadiusz Reca run. Quagliarella came off the bench and within five minutes had found the net at the back post.
After his much-publicized falling out with manager Ranieri he has been training alone ever since but could return to the starting XI as the relationship is fully patched before Wednesday night. Bartosz BereszynskI and Keita Balde have returned to training following muscle injuries and will be pushing for a starting berth. Alex Ferrari limped out of the Sampdoria match with Crotone with an apparent thigh injury, and Morten Thorsby could once again deputize as a makeshift right-back.
Sampdoria (4-4-2): Emil Audero (GK); Kaique Rocha, Maya Yoshida, Omar Colley, Tommaso Augello; Antonio Candreva, Albin Ekdal, Morten Thornsby, Keita Balde; Gaston Ramirez, Fabio Quagliarella
Milan made history with the fastest ever Serie A goal after six seconds, as Rafael Leao and Alexis Saelemaekers stunned Sassuolo. Hakan Calhanoglu from kick-off sent Leao through to score after six seconds, the fastest ever goal not only in Serie A but in all major European League competition. Calhanoglu had netted another, but it was ruled offside, while Saelemaekers finished off a well-worked team move for 2-0. Domenico Berardi’s free-kick took a deflection off Jens Petter Hauge to set up a tense finale.
De Zerbi could likely ring the changes, with this match being their fourth game in 10 days. De Zerbi welcomed forwards Gregoire Defrel and Caputo back from injury against AC Milan, with Vlad Chiriches also making the squad. That leaves defender Filippo Romagna as the only injured player, while Manuel Locatelli served his suspension against Milan and is now available against Sampdoria.
Sassuolo (4-2-3-1): Andrea Consigli (GK); Jeremy Toljan, Vlad Chiriches, Marlon Santos, Giorgos Kyriakopoulos; Maxime Lopez, Manuel Locatelli; Domenico Berardi, Filip Djuricic, Jeremie Boga; Francesco Caputo

Both to score is a good bet every time Sampdoria is on the pitch. Their last six games finished with that betting option and it is reasonable to believe that streak will continue.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
