Verona has had a surprisingly poor run of results lately and visits one of their bogey teams, Sampdoria. Read our reasons for Sampdoria vs Verona prediction and betting tips.
Samp has ambitions to finish the season on a high note, as they are currently in 10th place. Claudio Ranieri congratulated Gennaro Gattuso after the defeat to Napoli but raised more questions on his Sampdoria future. The Blucerchiati were beaten 2-0 at Marassi with goals from Fabian Ruiz and Victor Osimhen, although Morten Thorsby’s equalizer was disallowed for a push and there were some complaints about the second goal too. “In my view, if a player jumps, has no interest in the ball, and nudges his opponent, I’d give a foul. Then again, I am not a referee, and therefore I have to shut up,” Ranieri told the media. “The team played well, we caused Napoli all sorts of problems, but the moment we tried to take a breather, they took control. We changed the system after the break and went with a diamond midfield. I congratulated Gattuso after the final whistle because his teams have always played well, despite people saying he was all about grit and determination. That’s not true, Napoli plays out from the back and has a lot of quality. As for us, I appreciated our desire to fight it out and try to win.”
Ranieri was asked if he had a paternal rapport with Gattuso and hit back. “Steady on! At least a big brother! Let’s just say it’s mutual admiration from one coach to another.” Sampdoria director Carlo Osti said before the game that negotiations between President Massimo Ferrero and Ranieri were dragging on because they both had a ‘prima donna’ attitude. “We’ll see what happens. The President knows where I am if he wants to talk. I am in no rush and want to enjoy myself. Who is more of a prima donna? I would never win that battle.”

Hellas lost four of their last five games and abandoned the slip remaining hopes they had of a push for European football, now content just to remain in the top half of the table. Coach Ivan Juric raised doubts over his Hellas Verona future during a press conference. ‘I don’t know what will happen. I could even take a break.’ The tactician is consistently linked with Napoli and was asked about the deal he supposedly signed with Verona until June 2023. “That is not the case,” he replied. “We’ve been safe from the threat of relegation for a while, but we haven’t talked about the future. I don’t know what will happen or what the plans are. I don’t know, I could even take a break. This last year has been very tough for me and my staff. We must always look forward and keep pushing. We haven’t yet discussed the situation.”
Juric has been very vocal in criticizing Hellas Verona for their transfer strategy, arguing it’s difficult to build when most of his team is sold or only on loan. “I think the results of the last two years have been abnormal, considering that logically more investment means better results. We’ve done great things here, and I am not the one to ask if we could do more. It is clear what has to be done. My ideas have always been clear. I must say, I feel let down by your knowledge of football,” Juric told reporters. “We played a fantastic game against Lazio and you criticized it. I wish you could see our training sessions, the attitude shown by these lads is remarkable for a team that is already safe in mid-table. They could easily be annoyed with me, but instead, they ask for more and want to improve.”

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
