Sassuolo's seven-game unbeaten run away from home came to an end and they hope the next streak will begin against Genoa on Wednesday.
Sassuolo is trying to follow in the footsteps of Atalanta, the provincial side that with low costs and a smart youth academy, made it to the Champions League quarter-finals. The last 5-1 loss didn't help their ambitions as Roberto De Zerbi insists ‘mid-table place is not enough’ for Sassuolo, who have European ambitions.
Sassuolo suffered without Francesco Caputo who is the most efficient striker in the league. Their main striker is the most accurate Serie A marksman of 2020, finding the net on average once every 3.2 shots on goal, with Ciro Immobile only in fifth place. Media calculated the number of efforts is required to find the back of the net in Serie A matches during the calendar year 2020. There were some surprising results, as Capocannoniere for the 2019-20 season Immobile required four attempts for every goal, while runner-up Cristiano Ronaldo needed 5.4 efforts. Caputo was a shining star for Sassuolo, finding the back of the net 19 times in 62 shots.
Sassuolo defender Filippo Romagna remains out with a knee injury sustained in March 2020, while winger Federico Ricci is a doubt for Wednesday's match. Creative midfielder Filip Djuricic is also a doubt, but if fit could start ahead of Hamed Junior Traore, who has started the last four games. German right-back Jeremy Toljan could return to the starting lineup and replace Mert Muldur.
Sassuolo (4-2-3-1): Andrea Consigli; Mert Muldur, Vlad Chiriches, Gian Marco Ferrari, Georgios Kyriakopoulos; Maxime Lopez, Manuel Locatelli; Domenico Berardi, Hamed Junior Traore, Jeremie Boga; Francesco Caputo
Genoa earned a valuable point at home as Lazio failed to make their lead count again at Marassi after Ciro Immobile penalty was canceled out by Mattia Destro’s counter-attack. VAR was used to show the foul on Sergej Milinkovic-Savic was inside the box, allowing Immobile to convert the spot-kick. However, Genoa gained ground after the break and snatched an equalizer with Destro sent clear by Eldor Shomurodov.
Genoa's Goran Pandev (thigh strain), Luca Pellegrini (leg), Stefano Sturaro (hamstring), and Davide Biraschi (shoulder) are all ruled out with injuries. Defenders Davide Zappacosta and Christian Zapata returned from injuries to start in the draw with Lazio and are set to keep their places in the starting XI.
Genoa (3-5-2): Mattia Perin; Andrea Masiello, Cristian Zapata, Domenico Criscito; Davide Zappacosta, Nicolo Rovella, Milan Badelj, Valon Behrami, Lennart Czyborra; Matta Destro, Marko Pjaca

Sassuolo had a tough time against Atalanta but they are a quality team that had problems with injuries and coronavirus. They are favorites to win the next match, but both teams to score is our most preferable bet.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
