Inter will have another stern test when they travel to the Mapei Stadium to face high-flying Sassuolo in Serie A on Saturday.
Sassuolo trails Milan by two points and gets another chance to take the overnight lead in Serie A, but Inter has a lot to prove after another setback against Real Madrid on Wednesday. The Neroverdi are still unbeaten in the league after an impressive start to the season, picking up 18 points from the first eight games to sit second.
Hellas Verona was immensely unlucky to hit the woodwork four times, but Sassuolo took their chances well with Jeremie Boga and Domenico Berardi. The hosts didn't have luck, rattling the frame of the goal on four separate occasions with long-distance shots, headers, so Consigli and his defenders were tested through all 90 minutes. Boga’s world-class curler into the far top corner and a Berardi strike were good enough to win any game even though Verona with effort and quality didn't deserve to lose.
Francesco Caputo could be back for the home side and Inter could give the same XI a chance to redeem themselves in Reggio Emilia. Sassuolo-Inter has never ended in a draw at the Mapei Stadium in Serie A. Sassuolo have won four and Inter three out of seven meetings.
Sassuolo (4-2-3-1): Consigli; Tolian, Ferrari, Chiriches, Rogerio; M.Lopez, Locatelli; Berardi, Djuricic, Boga; Raspadori
Suspended: none
Injured: Romagna, Magnanelli, Caputo
The 4-2 win against Torino last weekend was the Nerazzurri’s only success in their six last games across all competitions. But Inter is fifth and within touching distance on 15 points, and the two sides are separated by Roma and Juventus on third and fourth respectively.
Inter’s Champions League dreams are broken after a 2-0 home defeat to Real Madrid, as Arturo Vidal was sent off for dissent in the first half. It was a bad start for Inter, as Nicolò Barella ran into the back of Nacho and clipped his heels for an avoidable and naïve penalty. Eden Hazard converted with power, despite Samir Handanovic guessing the right side. Things went from bad to worse when Vidal went down in the box under pressure from two Real Madrid players. Not only did the referee not view it again on VAR, but he also booked Vidal for dissent, swiftly followed by another card to reduce Inter to 10 men.
Real Madrid doubled their lead instead against the run of play when a Lucas Vazquez cross found substitute Rodrygo relatively unmarked to fire in at the far post. Perisic tried to get a consolation late on, his angled drive forcing Thibaut Courtois to get down quickly and palm it away with one hand.
Inter (3-4-1-2): Handanovic; Skriniar, De Vrij, Bastoni; Hakimi, Gagliardini, Vidal, Young; Barella; Lukaku, Lautaro
Suspended: none
Injured: Vecino, Padelli, Kolarov, Pinamonti, Brozovic

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
