Sassuolo has been impressive this season but will face an uphill task against Stefano Pioli's Milan.
Sassuolo starts the weekend fifth in Serie A and only five points behind visitors league leaders AC Milan. Wednesday saw Sassuolo miss a chance to close the gap on Milan. They led 1-0 at Fiorentina but returned home with a 1-1 draw. That extended their unbeaten league run to three games but two have been drawn.
Fiorentina and Sassuolo shared the spoils, as both sides found the net and also rattled the frame of the goal. Domenico Berardi was the creator to send Junior Hamed Traore clear on goal for the Neroverdi opener, but Manuel Locatelli tripped Franck Ribery for a Dusan Vlahovic penalty. Either could’ve won it in the second half, as Pedro Obiang and Ribery both hit the crossbar.
Sassuolo has a considerable list of injuries to account for and will have to do without Vlad Chiriches, Filippo Romagna, Gregoire Defrel, and Francesco Caputo this weekend. Lukas Haraslin served his suspension against Fiorentina last week and is available for this match.
Sassuolo (4-2-3-1): Andrea Consigli; Giorgos Kyriakopoulos, Gian Marco Ferrari, Marlon Santos, Jeremy Toljan; Maxime Lopez, Manuel Locatelli; Jeremie Boga, Lukas Haraslin, Domenico Berardi; Giacomo Raspadori
Stefano Pioli said Milan are 'competitive' enough to ‘fight the strongest teams’ in Italy but considers Juventus and Inter the two favorites for the Scudetto. The Rossoneri are still unbeaten in Serie A this term, but back-to-back 2-2 draws against Parma and Genoa, has helped Inter cut the gap to one point after 12 rounds. Pioli said Milan are prepared to ‘fight against the strongest teams’ in Italy, but pointed at Juventus and Inter when asked who were the favorites to win the Scudetto.
Milan confirmed their resilience and spirit by fighting back from a Mattia Destro brace to draw 2-2 in Genoa with a Pierre Kalulu equalizer. It was the second consecutive four-goal thriller for the Rossoneri, whose lead at the top of the table has now been cut to just one point. Destro surprised his former club by pouncing on the rebound from Gianluigi Donnarumma’s save on Eldor Shomurodov’s strike. Davide Calabria hit a daisy-cutter to draw level, only for Destro to score again with his header from Paolo Ghiglione’s cross. On a late corner, Alessio Romagnoli knocked it down for Kalulu’s debut Serie A goal in his first league start.
Mateo Musacchio and Simon Kjaer are currently injured and will not play a part in this game. AC Milan talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic was involved in the Rossoneri's training sessions this week but is unlikely to be risked against Sassuolo.
Milan (4-2-3-1): Gianluigi Donnarumma; Theo Hernandez, Alessio Romagnoli, Pierre Kalulu, Davide Calabria; Franck Kessie, Ismael Bennacer; Jens Petter Hauge, Brahim Diaz, Alexis Saelemaekers; Ante Rebic

Milan has scored at least twice in each of their last 12 away league fixtures and Sassuolo have conceded in five of their last seven home league games. Both teams to score is the most reasonable bet.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
