Both Sassuolo and Spezia are somewhat understandably struggling amid an on-going injury crisis, which has seen them slide down the standings.
Sassuolo coach Roberto De Zerbi believes the Neroverdi deserved more than a draw against Cagliari. Jeremie Boga secured a point for Sassuolo in stoppages, as Cagliari failed to end the winless run at the Sardegna Arena. “We have crucial players, not in their best form,” De Zerbi told the media. “However, we created many goal-scoring opportunities, we played well and I am happy with our performances," the coach added. “Cagliari is an organized team, they know how to play and they have strong players. One would think Cagliari have lost two points, but I believe a draw is not enough for us, given everything we did during the game.'' Domenico Berardi has been a huge loss for the Neroverdi, so while some of the other players are coming back to the fold, he leaves a very big hole. Maxime Lopez will also sit out a ban, but at least Jeremie Boga rediscovered some form with a last-gasp equalizer against Cagliari.
Sassuolo (4-2-3-1): Consigli; Toljan, Chiriches, Ferrari, Rogerio; Obiang, Locatelli; Traore, Djuricic, Boga; Caputo
Suspended: Lopez
Injured: Berardi, Romagna, Bourabia, Schiappacasse
Spezia coach Vincenzo Italiano claimed it was not easy to prepare the Udinese game in one training and regrets Riccardo Saponara’s red card. The newly-promoted Serie A side suffered a 1-0 home defeat at hands of Udinese in the lunch-time match on Sunday. “We faced the game well, it was decided by a mistake. We did everything we could to turn things around, but we were not clinical,” Italiano said at a press conference. Spezia played Napoli away earlier this week and was eliminated from the Coppa Italia quarter-finals. “It’s not easy to prepare such a difficult game with only one training,” Italiano continued. “We could have picked up one point, but I liked the behavior of my players, the path is still long.”
Riccardo Saponara was sent off in the second half after Udinese’s Rodrigo De Paul had seen red. “It’s a pity, everything became more complicated after Saponara’s red. “We could have scored the equalizer if we were up one man.” Spezia had a significant amount of games in a very small fragment of time, let alone when also playing in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals. The main problem for coach Vincenzo Italiano is that all the injuries are localized in one area, with almost all their striking options neutralized. Riccardo Saponara made things even worse with his red card in the 1-0 home defeat to Udinese.
Spezia (4-3-3): Provedel; Vignali, Erlic, Chabot, S Bastoni; Estevez, Agoume, Maggiore; Gyasi, Galabinov, Farias
Suspended: Pobega, Saponara
Injured: Mattiello, Nzola, Ferrer, Piccoli, Marchizza, Terzi

Sassuolo has won all five competitive meetings with Spezia between Serie A, B, and the Coppa Italia, scoring 12 goals and conceding just three. The home team is a legitimate favorite for the win.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
