Sassuolo and Verona are two of the most consistently impressive teams in Serie A over the last couple of seasons, both battling to stay in the hunt for Europe. Read our reasons for Sassuolo vs Verona prediction and betting tips.
Sassuolo’s shaky defense is proving very damaging recently, as they are without a win in three, being susceptible to the counter-attack. They were held by Bologna and Napoli before a 2-0 defeat at Udinese. Fernando Llorente’s first goal in the Udinese jersey and late Roberto Pereyra counter secured a 2-0 victory over Sassuolo, although there were chances for both sides. Sassuolo had Jeremie Boga, Vlad Chiriches and Medhi Bourabia injured, with Francesco Caputo not at 100 percent, so Roberto De Zerbi surprisingly switched to a 3-4-3 formation. Udinese broke through on the stroke of half-time with Llorente’s first goal for the club. He was at full stretch while being dragged back by the shirt, but still managed to steer in the Nauhel Molina pass from 10 yards.
Berardi saw his solo effort deflected over the bar, then Udinese had a rapid counter with Molina and De Paul, the latter forcing a save from Consigli, then Manuel Locatelli charged down the rebound with his arm. A penalty was awarded but then revoked by VAR for an offside position. Consigli again flew to palm a Stryger-Larsen curler out of the top corner, but Sassuolo could’ve equalized moments later when Musso pushed a Filip Djuricic scorcher out from under the bar. Udinese did double their lead deep into stoppages with another counter-attack. Makengo from the right found De Paul, who smartly rolled it across for Roberto Pereyra to sweep in the first time from 12 yards.
Sassuolo (4-2-3-1): Consigli; Toljan, Marlon, Ferrari, Rogerio; Obiang, Locatelli; Berardi, Lopez, Djuricic; Caputo
Suspended: None
Injured: Bourabia
Verona is also coming off a defeat, falling 2-0 at home to Milan, ending their run of eight points from four rounds. They will still be feeling the irritation after a 2-0 defeat to Sassuolo in November, in which Hellas hit the woodwork an incredible four times. Despite being decimated by injuries, Milan still earned an impressive 2-0 win away to Hellas Verona with top quality Rade Krunic and Diogo Dalot goals. Kevin Lasagna pounced on a Fikayo Tomori error to flick the ball over Gianluigi Donnarumma, so Alessio Romagnoli cleared practically off the line. Rafael Leao should’ve done better with a free header over the bar from Davide Calabria’s cross, as he’d managed to sneak between the two defenders.
Milan took the lead with a magnificent free-kick from Rade Krunic. He surprised Marco Silvestri by going for the far top corner from a tight angle, as the goalkeeper had taken a step forward to anticipate a possible cross. The second Milan goal was also an unexpected beauty, worked from left to right by Alexis Saelemaekers, a Leao dummy letting it through, and some Diogo Dalot fancy footwork before he fired into the top corner from just inside the area. Verona remained utterly toothless, Ceccherini nodding Bessa’s cross wide, but they did finally threaten at the 87th minute when Krunic cleared Marco Davide Faraoni’s header off the line from a corner.
Verona (3-4-2-1): Silvestri; Magnani, Gunter, Ceccherini; Faraoni, Sturaro, Veloso, Lazovic; Barak, Zaccagni; Lasagna
Suspended: None
Injured: Kalinic, Colley, Ruegg, Vieira, Tameze

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
