Schalke host Stuttgart on Friday in the first game of Matchday 6 in the Bundesliga.
The whole world is talking about Ozan Kabak and he is not even playing for the struggling Schalke. Kabak is the transfer rumors from the start of 2020 and he will be the next big move from Schalke in the coming months. Kabak is serving the fourth game of a five-match ban following his sending off in Schalke's 3-1 defeat to Werder Bremen on Matchday 2. Kabak scored three goals in 15 Bundesliga outings in a six-month stint in Stuttgart, before joining Schalke in June 2019.
Schalke has all sorts of problems and it is not an easy task for a one man to solve it, but Royal Blues had a heavy 4-0 defeat to leaders RB Leipzig in their first game without their Turkish defensive cornerstone, before recording their first points of the campaign in the 1-1 draw with Union Berlin. Their last weekend's 3-0 derby loss to Borussia Dortmund extended the winless run to 21 Bundesliga matches.
New coach Manuel Baum tried with Rabbi Matondo in attack at the Signal Iduna Park, but it is close to recalling Benito Raman to starting lineup to substitute Welshman. The former Augsburg coach post-match comments with the praise for homegrown midfielder Can Bozdogan, a second-half substitute in Dortmund can lead to further changes, with a shift back to a four-man defense as one more try to stabilize backline at the Veltins-Arena. Centre-half Malick Thiaw is the lead candidate to make way.
Schalke: Rönnow - Ludewig, Sane, Nastastic, Oczipka - Mascarell (c), Bentaleb - Harit, Uth, Raman - Paciencia
Out: Kabak (suspended)
Doubtful: Serdar (thigh)
Coach: Manuel Baum
Promoted Stuttgart is seven points and 12 places better off than Schalke after five rounds of fixtures. Pellegrino Matarazzo's men lost their season opener in Freiburg, but are unbeaten in four since most recently drawing 1-1 with Koln. The new face of the team could be Kalajdzic, who provided the assist for Oriel Mangala against the Koln, and had direct involvement in five of Stuttgart's 10 Bundesliga goals this term. He's succeeding in keeping the fit-again Nico Gonzalez out of the starting line-up and will be quietly confident of adding to his three-goal tally against the division's most porous defense. There's always a chance Gonzalez could get the nod in a wider role - don't forget the Argentine was the club's 14-goal top scorer in Bundesliga 2 last season - but Tanguy Coulibaly also looked lively there last time out. Gonzalez scored his first-ever Bundesliga goal against Schalke when the teams met in December 2018.
Stuttgart haven’t managed to beat the Schalke in any of their last eight encounters, taking just two of a possible 24 points from those games. However, VfB captain Gonzalo Castro has only lost two of 11 away matches in Stuttgart during his Bundesliga career (three wins, six draws).
Stuttgart: Kobel - Stenzel, Karazor, Kempf - Silas, Mangala, Endo, Coulibaly - Didavi, Castro (c) - Kalajdzic
Out: Anton (ankle), Awoudja (Achilles tendon), Mavropanos (knee), Mola (hip)
Doubtful: Massimo (knee)
Coach: Pellegrino Matarazzo

Schalke must win somewhere, sooner or later but it is hard to see that happen now. They are without confidence, with big problems scoring or keeping a clean sheet. Stuttgart on the other side is improving, they are very confident and closer to win this game.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
