Scotland meet Czech Republic at the Hampden Park (Glasgow) in the EURO 2020 Group D Round 1 match and the game kicks off at 1.55 pm (UK) on Monday, June 14. Read our reason for Scotland vs Czech Republic prediction and betting tips.
PIVOTAL MEETING FOR THE OUTCOME OF GROUP D FOR BOTH TEAMS
Scotland’s long 23-year wait is over as they feature in their first major tournament since World Cup 1998. The period between has seen some significant humiliations, but the Scots will believe this is a chance for redemption as they face a nation they’re unbeaten against in four (W3, D1), in a fixture boss Steve Clarke will have earmarked as the most likely avenue for three points. Both sides will be eyeing points though, as third place could lead to progression from the group stage, and that’s what Euro 1996 runners-up, the Czech Republic, will see as a viable route. The Czechs have made every tournament since , but mixed form in 2021 puts doubts on the 50% progression rate they’ve achieved across their last six Euro appearances.
STEVE CLARKE’S MEN TO GET OFF TO A FLYER
Opening matches are always huge, and Steve Clarke will be keen to ensure that there are no nerves within the team for Monday’s opener. Scotland gave the whole country reason to celebrate when they qualified for the EUROs, after beating Serbia in a nerve-jangling penalty shootout. They come into the major tournament after some positive results and there is no denying that there is quality in the Scottish side.
Players like Andrew Robertson, Kieran Tierney and Scott McTominay ensure that there is a good chance that they have more energy in key positions than most. Taking away the obvious ‘Scotland Factor' from this where you expect them to fall flat on their faces, there are absolutely no excuses why they can't get off to a flier here. They are playing a side who look bang average, are at home, have real momentum and have a squad full of players who have blended and appear to be in great spirits.
A look at Scotland’s betting odds: Scotland actually played the Czech in the Nations League so we’re backing the home team to score first.
CZECHS NOT TIPPED FOR GLORY
The days of Pavel Nedved and Tomas Rosicky are long gone. The Czech missed out on the last three World Cups, failed miserably at Euro 2016 and the nation is desperately looking for reasons to be cautiously optimistic this time. The rise of Tomas Soucek is encouraging, while Adam Hlozek's potential is breathtaking, but overall the squad lacks true quality.
The Czech side haven't had the best of build-ups to the Finals – they were destroyed 4-0 in Italy and edged past Albania 3-1 in Prague. But they have looked particularly vulnerable in defence, especially with the controversial suspension of Slavia Prague stopper Ondrej Kudela and manager Jaroslav Silhavy has struggled to choose a settled line-up. Consistency was difficult to find in the coronavirus times, but a win here could turn their fortunes around.
A look at Czech Republic’s betting odds: For the Czechs, West Ham’s Tomas Soucek has enjoyed an excellent season, having scored 14 goals from midfield for West Ham. Our second tip of the day is Soucek to score anytime.

Scotland will get their much-anticipated EURO 2020 campaign underway against Czech Republic in a ferocious atmosphere at Hampden Park on Monday. Their recent record against their opponents is good, and therefore, we expect them to start the group with a huge victory. A lot will depend on how brave Steve Clarke is but, put simply, they won't have a better chance.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
