Sevilla host Chelsea at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium (Sevilla) in the 5th round of the Champions League Group E and the match kicks off at 8 pm (UK) on Wednesday, December 2.
SEVILLA VS CHELSEA MATCH ANALYSIS
The Spaniards secured their place in the last 16 thanks to a 2-1 win over Krasnodar, and they could secure the top place in the standings if they beat Chelsea, who are level on 10 points but with a better goal difference. The La Liga side did well to beat Huesca in their last Primera match, with the team extending their winning run to five games. The good news for the hosts is that Jesus Navas returns to the starting XI after serving his ban against Krasnodar.
As for Chelsea, the Blues recorded six wins in their last seven games in all competitions. Frank Lampard's men head into Wednesday’s showdown following a goalless draw with Tottenham in the North London derby, and they should be happy with one point from the Sevilla game as well. Christian Pulisic has recovered from his injury, meaning that Lampard is likely to field the best possible side against Sevilla.
Both Sevilla and Chelsea had secured qualification to the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 before this match on Wednesday. The two sides that played out a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge last month will be eyeing all three points to go top of Group E. Sevilla have won five games on the trot and six of their last seven in all comps. They netted a 95th-minute winner in Russia last week to secure their place in the next round and Sevilla, more accustomed to competing in and winning the Europa League, are out to go unbeaten in their first five games in UEFA's flagship competition for the first time. Yassine Bounou and Carlos Fernandez both miss out after testing positive for COVID-19 earlier this month, while Suso and Oussama Idrissi are absent through injuries, but Jesus Navas is available after a ban.
Chelsea, on the other hand, no injury or suspension concerns for the trip to Seville. While Lampard will want to top Group E, he could make some changes in the line-up. Antonio Rudiger, Olivier Giroud, Kai Havertz, and Jorginho are among those who could come into the first eleven. Chelsea failed to win for the first time in seven as they were held to a 0-0 draw with Tottenham on Sunday. However, they have lost just once since the start of the season and are unbeaten in 14 in all competitions. Chelsea were made to work hard by Rennes last time out in Europe, but a late goal from substitute Olivier Giroud saw them pick up a 2-1 win and with it a place in the last 16. The Blues have now won three in a row in the competition and the last time they won four was in 2012 when they lifted the trophy for the only time after a win against Bayern Munich in the finals.

Sevilla and Chelsea are well-matched on all fronts and this could be a tightly contested affair that could end up being very similar to the game they played last month. It's difficult to pick a winner but it should be exciting as both teams have the same reason to go for the win.
Sevilla have never failed to score in 17 previous UEFA Champions League group stage home games before (W13 D2 L2).
Since losing their opening game of the 2019-20 UEFA Champions League campaign against Valencia, Chelsea are unbeaten in their last nine group stage games in the competition (W6 D3).

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
