Sheffield Utd host Aston Villa at the Bramall Lane (Sheffield) in the rescheduled 29th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 7 pm (UK) on Wednesday, March 3. The game has been brought forward from March 20 owing to Sheffield's FA Cup involvement. Read our reasons for Burnley vs Leicester prediction and betting tips.
Aston Villa return to Premier League action when they travel to Sheffield in midweek. Dean Smith's men will be hoping to make it consecutive wins in Yorkshire after beating Leeds United 1-0 last time out at Elland Road. Villa recorded their first win since February 6 and will now take on the top flight's bottom side hoping to further strengthen their case for a finish in the European places at the end of the season. On the other hand, United are bottom after Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Liverpool, relegation all-but confirmed with Chris Wilder's side 15 points adrift with 36 left to play for.
Sheffield are as good as relegated after suffering four consecutive league defeats since a run of three wins in five games provided a glimmer of hope earlier on. After picking up just 11 points in 26 games, the Blades are now chasing mission impossible, rather than a great escape. Scoring a meagre average of 0.60 goals per PL game, and with a league-low one clean sheet, it’s unsurprising that they’re in such a desperate position and the Blades will now have to produce an unprecedented recovery if they are to remain in the top-flight this season.
Chris Wilder said before this fixture that the most optimistic of Blades fans may believe his side can deliver the required results to keep them in the Premier League, though the boss himself remains more realistic. On Sunday night, the hosts did their best to contain the champions largely due to a superb performance from goalkeeper Ramsdale, at least until the 48th minute. As is it, no side in Premier League history has been 15 points from safety with 12 games to go and stayed up, but that is the task facing Wilder's outfit.
Aston Villa, on the other hand, picked up a big win on Saturday evening, beating Leeds at Elland Road. Villa were without Jack Grealish due to injury, but they still managed to pick all three points against the Whites. Anwar El Ghazi stepped up with the winning goal, turning home Ollie Watkins’ cross with a left-footed strike. Villa stood strong and didn’t allow Leeds back into the game, with Dean Smith’s side now just six points off the Champions League places.
Meanwhile, the Villans could be handed a big injury boost ahead of their clash with the Blades in midweek, if captain Jack Grealish declares himself available for selection. However, even if stays sidelined his absence shouldn’t be felt. A Netherlands international, El Ghazi, who can struggle with consistency and can put in woeful performances on occasion, showed he’s one of Villa’s best options for goals and took his chance to impress on Saturday. He should keep his place against Sheffield Utd on Wednesday night.

Sheffield Utd meet Aston Villa having previously won their last two home league games against the Birmingham team, last winning three in a row against them between 1968 and 1976. On the other hand, Villa are looking to secure their first league double over Sheffield Utd since the 1993/94 season, following their 1-0 win against them earlier in September.
The Birmingham side were promoted from the Championship alongside the Blades in 2019. But they only avoided the drop on the final day, while Wilder’s team finished ninth – their highest league position since 1992. Now the two sides have swapped roles. The Villans are eighth in the table as things stand, with games in hand over those above them.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
