Sheffield Utd host Chelsea at the Bramall Lane (Sheffield) in the 23rd round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 7.15 pm (UK) on Sunday, February 7.
SHEFFIELD UTD VS CHELSEA MATCH ANALYSIS
The hosts come into this match on the back of the three wins in four – a 2-1 win in the FA Cup Round 4 against Plymouth, a shocking 2-1 win at Man Utd, and a 2-1 win against fellows relegation candidates West Brom. They also suffered an expected 1-0 defeat at the Etihad on Saturday in this run. It took until early January for the Blades to pick up their first points, but they still remain rooted to the foot of the table, 11 points from safety. As for Chelsea, after a goalless draw against Wolves in Thomas Tuchel debut in the dug-out at Stamford Bridge, the Blues gave Frenchman the first win of his reign against an in-form Burnley (2-0), also at home and followed it with a 1-0 win at Tottenham - Tuchel’s first big test against a top team and a manager. They are now back in the top-six and are clear favourites here.
After 186 frustrating days, the Blades finally got to experience a winning feeling that had not just deserted them but appeared to have packed up and left the country. Three wins in the league and FA Cup R4 win give Sheffield Utd slim hopes that they can still avoid relegation. The Blades do not lack effort or commitment but, yet again, that has not been enough for them. They don't seem to be able to hurt teams and Chris Wilder admitted himself that his team need an "incredible run" to avoid relegation after their awful start to the season.
With a win against the Baggies, the Yorkshire side have now won five of their last seven matches in all competitions. So, can the Blades do it? Bottom club Sheffield Utd still have a mountain to climb, but history shows that their situation is not irretrievable. After making changes in personnel, tactics, and attitude saw a rejuvenated Blades side come from behind to beat West Brom on Tuesday night, Chris Wilder said his side are "alive and kicking and fighting for their lives".
Even though he conducted only one training session with his new team prior to the game, the German was given an indication of the huge challenge facing him as Chelsea struggled to carve out chances against a Wolves, also a side short of confidence. However, against Burnley next, it was more like it. Chelsea had control and creativity, playing crisp and inventive football once César Azpilicueta had scored the first goal of the Thomas Tuchel era.
The new manager’s immediate task will be to improve the position of a club that are 6th in the Premier League after spending more than £220m in summer and a six-pointer against Chelsea was a good opportunity to make the statement, which they eventually did. Jorginho's first-half penalty, proved enough for the Blues to pick up a deserved victory at Tottenham. That first away win under Tuchel capped off a seven-point return in three games that the Blues can be happy with.

Somewhat surprisingly, Sheffield Utd have a marginally better overall record than Chelsea with their 9 wins to visitors’ 8 in their last 20 meetings. Moreover, the Blades have won three of their four home top-flight matches against Chelsea (L1), winning 3-0 last season here, but losing their most recent match – a reverse fixture in November at Stamford Bridge (4-1).
Wilder still has an almighty task on his hands to save his side from the drop, but their mission of avoiding relegation no longer seems the impossible task it did just a few weeks ago. On the other hand, Tuchel is the first Blues boss since Jose Mourinho's first spell 17 years ago to keep a clean sheet in his first three matches in charge of the club.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
