Sheffield Utd host Leeds in the third week of the Premier League at Bramall Lane (Sheffield)on Sunday, September 27 and the match kicks off at 12pm (UK).
MATCH PREVIEW
The poor start is a bit worrying situation for the Blades, as they continue their three-game winless streak from the back end of the last season, which cost them one of the Europa League spots. They lost their home opening match to Wolves (0-2) and the next match against Aston Villa (1-0) without scoring, which only adds up to their misery. Against newly promoted Leeds, they hope they can break the dead-lock and get on the score-board.
Leeds, on the other hand, have started brightly, as it was expected of them. They put up a good fight against defending champions Liverpool on their Premier League debut (4-3) and defeated Fulham with the same score-line (4-3) in their first home game last week. The goals are there, but the best defense in the Championship last season needs fine-tuning as they have already shipped six goals in two matches. They won't mind conceding as long as they accumulate points, but Sunday's game is a chance to sort out the defensive niggles.
MATCH ANALYSIS
Monday's clash against Aston Villa left Chris Wilder and his side frustrated by an early red card for John Egan and a moment of class from the home team’s new goalkeeper who saved John Lundstarm's penalty. The Blades regrouped after the sending-off but couldn't contain the hosts for full 90 minutes. Sheffield Utd surpassed their wildest expectations last season in their return to the top division and now they have a dreaded second season ahead, which was costly for many former PL clubs.
The Blades need to quickly get over disappointment from their defeats against Wolves and Villa, and in Chris Wilder they have a manager who’ll know how to get them back on track. However, it will be awfully hard to repeat the last year's campaign and more realistically, the number one goal for 20/21 will be to ensure they stay up comfortably. Hopefully, a good game against Leeds will get them back on the right path.
As for Leeds,Marcelo Bielsa’s side is looking to establish themselves back in the Premier League, after a 16-year absence from English football's top flight. Their pressing is relentless and the opponents will have to count on hard work to respond to Leeds' intensity which only few teams will be able to match. The question is can they do it week after week.
After spending significantly this summer, including a club record £26m for Valencia forward Rodrigo, they have now added another player of note, Real Sociedad's defender Llorente, as a cover for their centre-back pairing, which makes sense because of the intense campaign ahead. Bielsa admitted that it would be difficult to maintain the efficiency in front of the goal for the rest of the season, which is another reason to tighten thing up at the back.

Last but not least, let's see the facts and stats. Looking back over the last decade, the two sides have played 6 times. The Blades have won 2 and the Whites have won 2 , while none of the match-ups ended in a draw.
Sheffield Utd have kept 8 clean sheets in their last 20 home games and the visitors have missed the net in 5 of their last 20 away league games.
Sheffield Utd 's home games have seen 30% of their home matches ending with both teams scoring (W2 -D1-L3), and Leeds' percentage of their away games finishing with both teams scoring is little higher at 50% (W4-D3-L3)
Finally, when these sides have faced each other, there has been an average of 1.83 goals per game. Out of these, Sheffield Utd have scored an average of 1.17 goals, while Leeds have averaged 1.67.
While Sheffield struggle to score, Leeds seem to be scoring for fun. While they might not take away the three points from this match, I still expect them to score. Therefore, my prediction is Both teams to score.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
