Sheffield Utd host West Brom at the Bramall Lane (Sheffield) in the 22nd round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 6 pm (UK) on Tuesday, February 2.
SHEFFIELD UTD VS WEST BROM MATCH ANALYSIS
The hosts come into this match on the back of the two wins – a 2-1 win in the FA Cup Round 4 against Plymouth and a shocking 2-1 win at Man Utd – and an expected 1-0 defeat at the Etihad on Saturday. It took until early January for the Blades to pick up their first points, but they still remain rooted to the foot of the table, 10 points from safety. As for West Brom, the Baggies are still second from the bottom, six points from Brighton in 17th. Having been beaten in their last five matches at home they shared the spoils at home with the fellow strugglers Fulham on Saturday (2-2) after a 5-0 home thrashing at the hands of Man City.
After 186 frustrating days, the Blades finally got to experience a winning feeling that had not just deserted them but appeared to have packed up and left the country. Two wins on the trot in the league and FA Cup R4 gave Sheffield Utd slim hopes that they can avoid relegation. The Blades do not lack effort or commitment but, yet again, that has not been enough for them. They don't seem to be able to hurt teams and Chris Wilder admitted himself that his team need an "incredible run" to avoid relegation after their awful start to the season.
Sheffield United traveled to Old Trafford and beat United 2-1 last Wednesday. They also put in a disciplined performance at the Etihad Stadium at the weekend, but went down but could not find the equalizer. The loss at the Etihad left Chris Wilder's side on just eight Premier League points and even though they have played much better than the table suggests at the moment, the Blades need results soon if they are to turn their season around.
West Brom’s win against Wolves on January 16 might be considered somewhat of a fluke, as we are still not fully convinced in their ability to continue climbing up the standings after they followed it with another three PL games without a win (D1, L2). Albion had conceded 9 goals in their past three Premier League games and are without a win in 11 from 12 in all competitions (D4, L7). The leakiest back four in the Premier League have now shipped 50 goals and scored only 17 – only bottom Sheffield scored less (12).
The Cottagers dominated the first period at the weekend, but a change of system and the introduction of new loan striker Mbaye Diagne helped the Baggies engineer a complete turnaround after the break. Having tweaked tactics and personnel to take control after the break, Allardyce will be frustrated they could not hold out for three points. The result is likely to have mixed emotions for Allardyce, who had pinpointed this game against another team in the relegation places as one the Baggies needed to win.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
