SHEFFIELD WED VS DERBY MATCH ANALYSIS
Relegation-battling Owls will welcome fellows strugglers Derby to Hillsborough on Friday evening, hoping to win against the other relegation battlers. While the home team has earned 16 points in this Championship campaign after a 2-1 win against Middlesbrough in midweek, a six-point penalty issued against them means that they are still very much in the fight against the drop. As for the visitors, the Rams ended their six-game unbeaten run (W2, D4) with Wayne Rooney solely in charge, after losing 1-0 to Preston at the Pride Park on Boxing Day, but have bounced back immediately with an emphatic 0-4 win at St. Andrew's Stadium on Tuesday, which saw them leave the red zone to climb to 20th place with 19 points.
The Owls’ preparations for this match have been overshadowed by Monday’s late announcement of Tony Pulis getting a sack as Sheffield Wed manager after 10 matches in charge with the club next to the bottom of the Championship. Former Barnsley manager Jose Morais and ex-Brighton and Sunderland boss Gus Poyet are the names that have been thrown in the mix, but Owls first-team coach Neil Thompson will act as an interim manager until a more permanent appointment is made.
To his credits, he managed to pick up the players who had not been paid their full wages for November, as they put financial worries and Tony Pulis' sacking behind them to beat Middlesbrough. Callum Paterson gave the Owls a first-half lead and Liam Shaw doubled the lead soon after. Boro pulled a goal back soon after the break, but the Owls managed to hold for a crucial win to keep the second-from-bottom Owls in touch with the sides fighting to avoid relegation. They also scored more than once at Hillsborough for the first time since 7 December 2019.
The Rams, on the other hand, can take a lot of positives from picking up 13 points from their last eight fixtures, but it has not been enough to keep the club outside of the relegation zone. Nevertheless, the last seven games have shown that Rooney can cope with being an interim manager and a trip to Birmingham turned out an excellent opportunity to get back on track. They will be well aware of the importance of that win ahead of their trip to Sheffield Wed next.
After a Boxing Day home defeat to Preston, Derby recorded their best win under Wayne Rooney against Birmingham, who suffered a defensive nightmare at St Andrew's. The Rams netted three goals inside the first 25 minutes through Bielik (15'), Shinnie (17'pen), Kazim-Richards (25'), and a youngster Jason Knight completed the scoring after 77 minutes. It was Derby's biggest away league win since 2014. But more importantly, the Rams moved out of the Championship's bottom three for the first time in two months.

In 25 previous encounters between the two sides, Derby County hold a clear advantage. They have won 13 games, lost three, and drawn nine. The two clubs last faced each other earlier this year, with Derby beating Sheffield Wed 3-1.
Sheffield Wednesday have been extremely goal-shy this season, with a mere 12 goals in 21 games so far - the worst in the division after Derby County. The Owls sit 22nd in the league table and the new manager will have a difficult task of keeping them in the division.
Derby’s resurgence, on the other hand, has finally taken the Rams out of the relegation zone. It’s been a tight run of matches for Derby, with their last seven fixtures all featuring under 2.5 goals, but everything clicked against the Blues
BettingKick’s prediction for the Sheffield Wed vs Derby match is: Under 2.5 goals

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
