Sheffield Wed host Norwich at the Hillsborough (Sheffield) in the 36th round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 12.15 pm (UK) on Sunday, March 14. Read our reasons for Sheffield Wed vs Norwich prediction and betting tips.
Despite the arrival of new manager Darren Moore last week, Sheffield Wed remain in freefall after six straight Championship defeats, losing 3-0 at Reading last time out. Of the 20 occasions in which their opposition on the day has taken the lead against them this Championship campaign, they’ve managed to equalise just twice and the Owls remain second from the bottom, 4 points behind Rotherham who have two games in hand. At the other end of the form table is promotion-chasing Norwich City, who have won seven straight Championship matches. They opened the scoring in all of those victories and will feel extra confident here given their unbeaten record this season against the bottom - six sides (W9, D1) ahead of this round.
The Owls need a miracle to prevent the drop to the third division football next season. They are as many as seven points below the safe zone line after losing six in a row in the second division. The Owls also conceded three goals in three of the last four league matches. Their latest failure came last Saturday when Reading exploited their defence to the max by putting three goals past Joseph Wildsmith and we just can’t imagine any other scenario but the comprehensive victory for the Canaries here.
Sheffield Wednesday will be without centre-back Julian Borner who was sent off in the mentioned catastrophe against the Royals. It was yet another poor performance as they failed to muster a single attempt on target. The Owls have endured a difficult campaign with just nine wins from 34 Championship matches this season. They are deep in relegation trouble, and in danger of being cut adrift down in the table.
Meanwhile, the Canaries have a ten-point cushion at the top of the Championship table after a marvelous run of seven consecutive victories. Daniel Farke’s men have conceded only one goal in the last six games in the process. Norwich are heading towards automatic promotion after impressing on their travels in recent weeks, winning their last three away matches. They have one of the best attacks in the league, thanks to Teemu Pukki and his 20 goals this season, and are also among the tightest defences in the competition.
Their latest victims were Luton Town as the competition’s second top scorer Teemu Pukki inspired a demolishing 3-0 victory with a brace seven days ago at Carrow Road. The Finnish striker should have plenty of room to deliver in the final third this time around as well given Sheffield’s dreadful defensive stats in the last couple of months. The fact that Sheffield lead the head-to-head tie by one win going into the 42nd encounter with the Canaries shouldn’t matter much.

Sheffield Wed meet Norwich having not previously lost seven league games in a row since December 2012. Interestingly, the last three league matches between the Owls and the Canaries at Hillsborough have ended in four-goal victories - – the Owls won 5-1 in 2016/17 and 2017/18 and the Canaries won 4-0 in 2018/19.
Norwich are looking to record their first Football League double over Sheffield Wed since the 2001/02 season and their eighth consecutive league win for only the fifth time in their history, last doing so in April 2019 and we fully expect them to do so.
BettingKick’s Sheffield Wed vs Norwich prediction is: Norwich win
