Sheffield United and Wolverhampton's 2020/2021 seasons get underway at Bramall LAne Stadium (Sheffield) on Monday, 14 September and the game kicks off at 6pm (UK).
Sheffield United surpassed their wildest expectations in their return to the top division and came incredibly close to qualifying for Europe. They were in it until the very end but their heads dropped in the final weeks of the campaign. Now they have a dreaded second season ahead which was costly for many former PL clubs. In Chris Wilder they have a manager who’ll know that number one goal for this campaign will be to ensure they stay up comfortably.
Wolves also exceeded the expectations in 19/20 by finishing 7th for a second year in a row, but this time they went all the way to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League where they lost to Sevilla who later lifted the cup. They have added new faces to their squad in the last few weeks which will surely make them an incredibly exciting team to watch again and without Europe, who knows, maybe they can surprise again in the league.
SHEFFIELD VS WOLVERHAMPTON MATCH ANALYSIS
As I stated above, the challenge for Wilder is to keep the core of his squad together to try to preserve their Premier League status beyond this season as well. They lost Dean Henderson, one of the best goalies in the league last season, but that was expected as his loan spell ended and he returned to Manchester United. However, they reacted swiftly and signed Aaron Ramsdale from Bournemouth.
They have been quiet elsewhere in the transfer market, although Wilder is aware that the squad needs more depth as they used only 21 player last campaign. Wilder and his team are respected and teams recognize how difficult is to play against them, because they are a clever mix of solidity and style. As a newly promoted side they finished the season with the fourth-best defensive record in the PL, with only Liverpool and the Manchester clubs conceding less. What's best is, the Blades did all that without being negative.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s 51% win record is the highest of any Wolves manager in history. Of course, he had substantial backings by their owners, but the key thing for them wasn't just buying top players, but managing to keep them around despite interest from much bigger clubs. Apart from Matt Doherty, who they lost to Spurs, possibly their direct rivals, they managed to fend off potential suiters for their star player Raul Jimenez, which is a good piece of business in itself.
As a sign of intentions, they broke their club record transfer fee for a teenager from Porto, Fabio Silva. They also brought in Fernando Marcal from Lyon and midfielder Vitinha from Porto. Another area where they need to improve, is to make sure they start games better next season. Wolves were second-worst in the league for first-half results and they need to be quicker out the blocks this time around.

The Blades managed to win only one of their last six season openers, but they won in a corresponding fixture last season (1:0). Also, in games against Wolves they were shown two red cards in their last four head-to-head matches. Sheffield are capable of beaten any opponent but Wolves are known to never give up and that's why they are so hard to play against.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
