Slavia host Arsenal at the Sinobo Stadium (Prague) in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals and the match kicks off at 8 pm (UK) on Thursday, April 15. Read our reasons for Slavia vs Arsenal prediction and betting tips.
They may be starting as underdogs, but a 1-1 first-leg draw and a precious away goal has Slavia on the verge of the UEFA Europa League (UEL) semi-finals, and subsequently their best performance in Europe since the UEFA Cup semi-finals in 1995/96. A 2-0 weekend win over fierce rivals Sparta - which extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to 23 games (W17, D6) - will only boost morale further. Meanwhile, winning the UEL is starting to look like Arsenal’s most realistic chance of playing European football next season, and the Gunners will hope their record of never losing against a Czech side (W7, D2), and never conceding in the Czech Republic, can inspire them to victory here.
Slavia, who have already eliminated two British clubs in this UEFA Europa League campaign, host 2018/19 runners-up Arsenal in the Czech capital with the outcome of this quarter-final in the balance after a 1-1 draw in the first leg. That was not Slavia's best performance this season, but they never lost belief or heart and fought until the very end. Although the Czech champions rode their luck, they still managed a promising result to take into the second leg.
Jindrich Trpisovsky’s side hung in there at the Emirates and were eventually rewarded with a stoppage-time leveller after Tomas Holes headed in at the far post from a corner. Slavia have since beaten Sparta 2-0 in a Prague derby at this venue to move 17 points clear of their rivals at the top of the Czech table and, more worryingly for Arsenal, Bayer Leverkusen, Nice and Hapoel Beer Sheva were all beaten here during the group stage, so this is clearly a daunting place to come to.
As for Arsenal, they understandably felt as though they should have made more of their first-leg chances, but Mikel Arteta wasn’t pressing any panic buttons afterwards. In the meantime, they beat the Premier League bottom side Sheffield Utd 3-0, which was Arsenal’s first win in five games (W1, D2, L2), and their only clean sheet across the last 15 - although on the road Arsenal are unbeaten in six trips (W3, D3). It was a nice boost, with Lacazette bagging a brace either side of Gabriel Martinelli’s tap-in.
Arsenal need to score at least one goal in Prague to have any chance of qualifying for the Europa League semi-finals. The good news is that if they do score one goal, every goal after that gives them the away goals advantage. The mindset has to be to go there and score goals and win the game, because the Gunners have to score if they want to go through. But Slavia’s away victories over Leicester and Rangers during the knockout rounds came after first-leg draws, so that suggests they are also comfortable with the current scenario.

Slavia welcome Arsenal looking to reach a European semi-final for the first time since 1995/96 when they made it to the last four of the UEFA Cup before losing to Bordeaux. On the other hand, this is Arsenal’s 16th quarter-final tie in major European competition, progressing from 9 of the previous 15, and are unbeaten against Czech opposition in eight fixtures (W7, D1).
Arsenal face a very tricky test when visiting Prague in midweek. Slavia only conceded one goal against Leicester and Rangers so will not be easy to break down. The Gunners looked the better team in a London draw, but their opponents have gone 30 home games without defeat.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
