Southampton host Fulham at the St. Mary’s Stadium (Southampton) in the 36th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 3 pm (UK) on Saturday, May 15. Read our reasons for Southampton vs Fulham prediction and betting tips.
Southampton came from 1-0 down to beat Crystal Palace 3-1 on Tuesday night. That result lifted them from 17th to 14th, illustrating how tight it is in the bottom half of the table. With Premier League safety achieved, they will now be hoping to finish as high up the table as possible to put a disappointing campaign behind them. Meanwhile, Fulham were relegated to the Championship on Sunday following a 2-0 home defeat to Burnley. They have failed to win any of their last seven in the Premier League and have failed to score in each of their last three against Southampton.
Southampton benefited from getting star striker Danny Ings back from a slight hamstring strain when coming from behind to see off Palace 3-1 at this venue. Ings bagged a clinical brace and teamed up well with strike partner Che Adams, who was also on target. With Ings and Adams back in tandem, alongside other attack-minded players such as James Ward-Prowse, Nathan Redmond, Stuart Armstrong and Takumi Minamino, this is an attractive team to watch.
It is perhaps a sign of the last few months that a win like this should get Saints fans excited, but Ralph Hasenhuttl and his men need to get the pride in Southampton Football Club back. If they put the effort from the Crystal palace match into every game, then the Saints would be where they started the season. Hopefully, they can build on this performance and use it as a springboard for the last few games, using the summer to re-evaluate, strengthen the squad and kick on next season.
As for Fulham, the Cottagers needed to beat Burnley at home on Monday night to keep their slim hopes of a great escape alive but instead fell to a 2-0 defeat. First-half goals from Ashley Westwood and Chris Wood did the damage and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa went closest to a response from the Cottagers when hitting the bar. Now, with three games left, Scott Parker’s job is to finish this season in the right way.
Just 25 goals scored in 35 league matches is the most damning statistic regarding Fulham’s campaign, with £22million striker Aleksandar Mitrovic netting just three times. Also, Fulham have only picked up one point from their last seven games. To be fair, the Cottagers have registered 16 goals in 17 away games, picking up 17 of their 27 points on the road. With the pressure now off, Parker’s men may play with freedom and open up more, but the Saints are still the favourites here.

Southampton meet Fulham having previously lost just one of their last eight league matches against the Cottagers (W3, D4), a 3-2 defeat in November 2018 in Mark Hughes’ penultimate league game in charge of the Saints. Moreover, Fulham have only managed one win in 30 league visits to the St. Mary’s (D8, L21), a 2-1 win in the second tier all the way back in October 1935. They are winless in nine top-flight visits to Saints (D4 L5).

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
