SOUTHAMPTON VS MAN CITY MATCH ANALYSIS
The Saints have completely turned their fortunes around since the beginning of the season and were on a seven-game unbeaten run (W5-D2) before they lost to Man Utd in Round 10 (2-3). They let Man Utd match slip out of their hands as they squandered a two-goal lead, but they recovered with back-to-back wins at Brighton (2-1) and Sheffield Utd at home (3-0) As a result, they are sitting in 4th with 23 points. As for City, were on a nine-game unbeaten run in all competitions until November 21, when they lost to Tottenham in London (2-0). The Citizens were back on track with convincing back-to-back wins against Burnley (5-0) and Fulham (2-0). However, they followed it with a goalless draw in the Manchester derby and a disappointing 1-1 against West Brom at the Etihad, which puts them in the 9th place with 20 points in the early running, albeit with a game in hand.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side, on the other hand, looks different, a much more organized side than they seemed after back-to-back defeats at the start of the campaign. With the squad that includes in-form Stephens, James Ward-Prowse, Armstrong, and Ings, they have a strong core of the team, who shouldn't be in a similar situation to last year.
