SOUTHAMPTON VS SHEFFIELD UTD MATCH ANALYSIS
The Saints have completely turned their fortunes around since the beginning of the season, and have gone on a seven-game unbeaten run (W5-D2) before they lost to Man Utd last week (2-3). They let Man Utd match slip out of their hands as they squandered a two-goal lead, but they bounced back with a comeback ff their own after a win at Brighton (2-1) As a result, they are sitting in 5th with 20 points. As for Sheffield, the Blades have had a nightmarish start, which is a worrying situation for the Blades, as they continue their eleven-game winless streak. After getting their only point in the league so far against Fulham at home (1-1) in the 5th week, they continued their losing streak in the next six matches. After losing to Leicester last weekend (1-2), they are rooted to the bottom of the table, being the only top-flight side without a league win so far.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side looks different, a more organized side than they seemed after back-to-back defeats at the start of the campaign. With the squad that includes in-form Stephens, James Ward-Prowse, Armstrong, and Ings, they have a strong core of the team, who shouldn't be in a similar situation to last year. They were frustrated to lose points from the winning position against Wolves (1-1)and the Red Devils (2-3) last weekend, but they had their own share of fortune on Saturday against the Seagulls.
They looked on course for a point until March was penalised for a late foul on Southampton full-back Kyle Walker-Peters. Ings converted from the spot for the win and his 7th goal of the season, while Jannik Vestergaard equalised earlier with a powerful header. After this match, Only Chelsea (8) have scored more Premier League goals from set-pieces than Southampton this season (7), meaning the Saints have added another dimension to their play.
Sheffield Utd, on the other hand, have had the worst start in the league under Chris Wilder. They picked up sixteen points from their opening eleven games last season, but they have already shipped twice as many goals in 2020-21 as they had at this stage last year, only scoring only five times. It means that no side has scored fewer than them so far. It will be impossible to repeat the last year's campaign and more realistically, the number one objective for 2020/21 will be to ensure they stay up.
As for their latest defeat against Leicester, Chris Wilder said in the aftermath that he and his team shared their fans' worry as the Blades’ misery at the bottom of the Premier League table continued. The Blades looked set to record their second point of the campaign after Oli McBurnie scored the equaliser two minutes after falling behind, but with just a few minutes of the match remaining, James Maddison fed in Jamie Vardy, who slotted home the winner. United, who have made the worst start by any club to a Premier League season, now only have one point from 11 games and sit five points adrift at the bottom.

Southampton won both Premier League meetings with Sheffield United last season, while the Blades conceded three times in each of their last three matches at St.Mary’s.
Southampton have won 6 of their opening 11 games in the Premier League this season and Sheffield are without a win in all 11 of their Premier League games so far this season (D1, L10).
Since Danny Ings has overcome his injury Saints will probably have too much fire-power for the Seagulls. As they are eyeing their fourth home win of the season.
On the other hand, Chris Wilder is under huge pressure ahead of the trip to Hampshire and another defeat may signal the end of his tenure at Sheffield.
