Spain meet Sweden at the Estadio de La Cartuja (Sevilla) in the EURO 2020 Group E Round 1 match and the game kicks off at 8 pm (UK) on Monday, June 14. Read our reason for Spain vs Sweden prediction and betting tips.
SPAINS STRENGTH IN DEPTH TO TELL
The Estadio de La Cartuja will become the first Spanish venue to host a major international tournament since the 1982 World Cup, as three-time European champions Spain make a seventh successive Euro finals appearance. After netting 12 goals across their final two Euro 2020 qualifiers, ‘La Roja’ certainly have the momentum to claim a third Euro title in four editions. On the other hand, Sweden are flying under Janne Andersson, boasting a win rate of 51% after a five-game winning run. They finished top in their 2018 World Cup group under him, but wider history is against the ‘Blågult’(Blue and Yellow), who’ve bowed out at the group stage in four of five Euro appearances since their semi-final appearances at Euro ‘92 and the 1994 World Cup.
MORATA THE MAIN MAN FOR SPAIN
There have been glimpses of stunning football from Spain over the past couple of months, as they famously beat Germany 6-0 back in November. However, their preparation for the start of the tournament has been rocked by COVID cases, and it is still unknown what kind of team the Spanish will put out on Monday after fielding their U21 team against Lithuania on Tuesday evening in a 4-0 success.
However, it is still Spain and they will still be rammed full of world class players whoever ends up playing for them. And that's why they will be punters' bankers for this game. Spain have lost just once in their last 24 games and the 2008 and 2012 winners have a ‘brilliant atmosphere' in their camp according to Enrique. With the rest of Spain's squad set to be vaccinated to ensure no more Covid problem, they should be raring to go by the time Monday arrives.
A look at Spain’s betting odds: The 28-year-old Alvaro Morata notched three goals at Euro 2016, all of which came in the group stage, and he looks to be his side’s most likely goalscorer on Monday. Our first tip of the day is: Morata to score at any time.
IBRAHIMOVIC OUT ALEXANDER ISAK IN
Sweden were dealt a hammer blow when it was announced that Zlatan Ibrahimovic – who was due to return from international exile – will miss the tournament with a knee problem. Ibrahimovic versus Lewandowski would have been a whole lot of fun in Group E. But without the big man adding sparkle to their squad, Sweden look a little bit vanilla, but still have Alexander Isak, with the 22-year-old bagging 19 goals for club and country this season.
The Swedes at least come into the tournament with some good momentum behind them, having won their three warm-up games for the competition. Now that the AC Milan icon is out again, the team will definitely want to prove that he was not needed anyway. They should prove stiff opposition and their match with Poland will be crucial to determine who finished runners-up in this group.
A look at Sweden’s betting odds: Sweden have not won in Spain since 1988 but have scored in two of the four meetings and will expect to do so again on Monday, but that may be as good as it gets for them. Our second tip of the day is: Both teams to score.

The three-time European champions have home advantage on Monday and La Roja are also unbeaten in their last four meetings with Sweden. These sides will be aware of each others strengths and weaknesses, but it will be hard to see Spain coming away from this game with anything other than a win.
Final BettingKick’s Spain vs Sweden prediction is: Spain to win.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
