Spain will be looking to build on a 4-0 win over Ukraine when they take on Switzerland in yet another home game in the UEFA Nations League.
La Furia Roja aims to retain the top position in Group 4, and they are likely to stick to their attacking style of play against the Rossocrociati. The likes of Dani Ceballos, Jose Campana, and Sergio Canales have been included in the 25-man squad, while Atletico Madrid attacker Alvaro Morata has been omitted, as well as Jordi Alba, Inigo Martinez, Isco, Saul Niguez, and Koke.
Spain started their UEFA Nations League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Germany at the start of September. Enrique's side were in action on Wednesday night, meanwhile, drawing 0-0 with Portugal in an international friendly, with the match acting as valuable preparation for their next two fixtures. It would be fair to say that Spain have had their problems in recent years, but they breezed through their qualification section for next summer's European Championships, winning nine of their 10 matches. La Roja also now unbeaten in all competitions since losing to Croatia in the 2018-19 edition of this particular tournament, a run that stretches 14 matches.
Switzerland, meanwhile, started their 2020-21 UEFA Nations League campaign with a 2-1 defeat against Ukraine on September 3 before picking up a point in a 1-1 draw with Germany three days later.
Vladimir Petkovic's side are bottom of Group 4 with one point, but there is no question that they will have been encouraged by their performance against Germany last time out. Switzerland will enter the match off the back of a 2-1 defeat to Croatia in a friendly on Wednesday, though, and now face successive away games against Spain and Germany. New Leeds United striker Rodrigo is widely expected to lead the line for the hosts. Switzerland boss Vladimir Petkovic, on the other hand, welcomes Xherdan Shaqiri back to the squad following a one-year absence, while Jordan Lotomba is likely to make his debut for the national team against Spain.

Anyhow, home win should be considered as Luis Enrique’s troops impressed in the triumph over Ukraine. Switzerland are certainly capable of making it a very uncomfortable evening for Spain, who are still feeling their way into a new era. We are expecting a very tight game on Friday evening but believe that the hosts will just have enough quality to pick up all three points in the Spanish capital.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
