Spezia has the opportunity to break further away from the drop zone, but Crotone proved they aren’t going down without a fight. Read our reasons for Spezia vs Crotone prediction and betting tips.
Vincenzo Italiano’s men are seven points clear from the relegation zone, despite winning just one of their last seven games. Manuel Lazzari and a last-gasp Felipe Caicedo penalty scraped the win for Lazio, after a spectacular Spezia goal, but there were two red cards after a stoppage-time brawl. Joaquin Correa ballooned over the bar from 12 yards when sent clear by Ciro Immobile. Roberto Piccoli took one too many touches when sent clear by a slide-rule pass and the angle was too narrow. Pepe Reina had to beat away a powerful Emmanuel Gyasi strike, then Diego Farias floated a ball onto the head of Giulio Maggiore, his finish not far wide. Correa wasted another golden opportunity one-on-one with Zoet, but Manuel Lazzari showed much cooler nerves under pressure when he ran onto the Correa assist, blazed past defenders, and beat the goalkeeper.
Spezia substitute and former Roma youth player Daniele Verde scored a simply extraordinary equalizer for Spezia. Gyasi put the cross in from the left and he leaped into the air for a textbook overhead kick into the far top corner. In the final minute, the referee awarded a penalty after viewing the handball on VAR, as it bounced off Riccardo Marchizza’s elbow. Felipe Caicedo stepped up and converted successfully. The tension was sky high and exploded in stoppages. Kevin Agudelo was only booked for a horrible tackle on Lazzari, but the Lazio man was sent off for his reaction, getting back up to shove the Spezia player during a melee. Moments later, Correa then received his second yellow card of the game for a pointless trip on Agoume.
Spezia (4-3-3): Zoet; Ferrer, Terzi, Chabot, S Bastoni; Sena, Ricci, Maggiore; Gyasi, Piccoli, Verde
Suspended: None
Injured: Saponara, Krapikas, Ramos
Serse Cosmi has brought some real grit and determination to Crotone, along with the goals of Nwankwo Simy, as although they are doomed to the drop, they’re giving everyone a run for their money with tight defeats. The 4-3 loss at Napoli was only the latest in this long line. Tiemoue Bakayoko turned wide from a very promising position, but the pressure finally paid off when Giovanni Di Lorenzo burst down the right and pulled back for Lorenzo Insigne’s deflected strike. Napoli doubled their lead almost immediately, Fabian Ruiz floating a ball over the top for Insigne’s spectacular volleyed assist back across the face of goal, finding Victor Osimhen for the tap-in. The Partenopei shot themselves in the foot with some comical defending to give it away inside their penalty area, Ahmad Benali’s cross allowing Nwankwo Simy to score undisturbed at the far post. Mertens restored the two-goal cushion with a magnificent free-kick from the edge of the box into the near top corner.
Adam Ounas wanted to prove a point against his former club with a solo run, but Alex Meret made the decisive save. It should have been 4-1 before half-time, as Alex Cordaz made a remarkable save on Osimhen, but Mertens only hit the woodwork on the follow-up. Crotone got back into it again after the restart, as a corner was not cleared effectively and Simy got in front of Kostas Manolas to turn in from 10 yards. Napoli has been very vulnerable when playing out from the back and it happened again for 3-3, as Junior Messias caught Nikola Maksimovic in possession. Di Lorenzo had already provided an assist, but he added a goal with his solo effort, cutting inside from the right for a left-foot daisy-cutter into the far bottom corner. Napoli kept pushing to the end, with Insigne, Mertens, and Hirving Lozano off target but held on for the 4-3 win.
Crotone (3-5-2): Cordaz; Cuomo, Golemic, Djidji; Molina, Messias, Benali, Vulic, Reca; Simy, Ounas
Suspended: Pereira
Injured: None

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
