Napoli has a shortage of defenders as they visit a Spezia side desperate to escape the relegation zone and who already beat them once this season. Read our reasons for Spezia vs Napoli prediction and betting tips.
The races for Champions League football and to stay in the top flight intersect once again and both remain wide open, so this could be a very important match. Spezia coach Vincenzo Italiano admitted he had the ‘fear’ they’d fumble a point in their 1-1 draw at Verona. ‘We went in with a bit of tension.’ Eddie Salcedo had put Verona in front with a header, although the hosts had many other chances, including two goals disallowed and a free-kick thumping the crossbar. After Riccardo Saponara’s equalizer, Italiano shouted at his players: ‘Don’t forget, we are Spezia!’ “In many games, we lost important points in the final minutes, including Roma and Lazio, so there’s always that fear,” explained Italiano.
“We did well to get a point, and I am also happy that the two substitutes combined for the goal, as we need everyone on the pitch, on the bench, and in the stands to give their contribution. We’ve made these enormous efforts this season and still have to push to the maximum right to the end. We went in with a bit of tension today, there’s not long to go and this point is so important. I am convinced the issue is always mental because we held the best team in Italy – Inter – to a draw just over a week ago. My concern is when we lose our concentration. “We have the quality and I am sure that fundamentally it will make the difference by the end of the season.”
Spezia (4-3-3): Provedel; Vignali, Chabot, Ismajli, Marchizza; Estevez, Ricci, Maggiore; Verde, Piccoli, Gyasi

Nahitan Nandez got Cagliari’s equalizer with practically the last kick of the game, stunning Napoli after a Victor Osimhen opener. Napoli needed a win to retain third place and maybe even go second, while the Sardinians were in the drop zone along with Benevento and Torino. Hosts found the breakthrough when Lorenzo Insigne floated a ball over the top for Victor Osimhen, who controlled between Diego Godin and Gabriele Zappa to sweep past Cragno with the inside of the left boot. Cagliari fought back and Zappa cracked the base of the upright from close range after good work from Nainggolan, while Chucky Lozano nodded just wide from an Osimhen cross. Cagliari came close to an equalizer before half-time, as Leonardo Pavoletti’s towering header forced a desperate save from Alex Meret, then Nahitan Nandez turned the rebound onto the post from a yard.
Osimhen should’ve had another goal when nodding wide from point-blank range on a Piotr Zielinski cross, then he acrobatically flicked over the bar from a Lozano header and Zielinski tested Cragno at the near post. Diego Demme saw his screamer smash against the crossbar with Cragno beaten. Napoli threatened again, Osimhen putting the ball in the net only after he’d shoved Godin out the way. It was wide open, Charalampos Lykogiannis nodding the Nainggolan cross wide, Zielinski’s shot stinging Meret’s gloves, but there was a nasty clash of heads between Osimhen and Luca Ceppitelli. Cagliari threw on all their forwards and it almost worked, because Meret required a sensational one-handed reaction save to deny Pavoletti’s acrobatic volley. Not for the first time, the Sardinians snatched a result with almost the last kick of the game. Alfred Duncan floated a ball over the top and found Nahitan Nandez to slide in relatively undisturbed at the back post.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
