Stoke host Swansea at the Bet365 Stadium (Stoke on Trent) in the 34th round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 7.15 pm (UK) on Wednesday, March 3. Read our reasons for Stoke vs Swansea prediction and betting tips.
Stoke side are struggling for consistency after a barren run of form since December, winning only three times from 17 games in that period (D7, L7). Michael O'Neill saved the Potters from a humiliating relegation last season but his ambition of finishing inside the top half of the standings this year is facing a litmus test right now after the latest 2-1 defeat at Brentford. As for Swansea, they were leading 1-0 against Bristol at the hour mark on Saturday thanks to an Andre Ayew penalty, but the Welsh side conceded three times in the final half-hour as they slipped to a 3-1 home defeat. The Welsh side have lost two of their last three league games but remain in the playoff battle in 4th place.
The Potters’ faint hopes of making it into the top six this season were dealt another major blow on Saturday with Stoke going down 2-1 at promotion-chasing Brentford. O’Neill’s side were unable to compensate for the lack of quality without the likes of the influential Clucas, McClean, and Fletcher on the field, who were all notable absentees and saw the squad further stretched. The setback in the most recent games has led to Stoke dropping into 10th position and coming under pressure from teams directly below them.
However, Michael O’Neill insists his Stoke side still have much to play for, despite Saturday’s defeat leaving them seven points away from the play-off spots. It represented a second away defeat in four days and was difficult to swallow after the Potters led for a long period after Jacob Brown had opened the scoring after just 26 seconds. The Potters now have 13 games remaining, starting with the visit of Swansea, and O’Neill is focussed on a positive end to the campaign.
Meanwhile, Swansea travel to Stoke this week looking to avoid back-to-back defeats for the first time this season. The Swans suffered a 3-1 loss at home to a newly-appointed Nigel Pearson-inspired Bristol at the weekend, following a narrow 1-0 win over relegation battlers Coventry City who handed them a set-piece goal on a plate. However, Steve Cooper believes Swansea City’s togetherness and team bond can be key factors in the Championship run-in.
The Swans head to the Potteries in midweek, looking to respond to a small poor sequence which has been a rare setback for Swansea in a season where they have been among the division’s pacesetters throughout. Their destiny remains firmly in their own hands, despite those defeats, and Cooper knows his players are capable of finding the right response over the final 15 games of the season. If they prevail in their two matches in hand, Swansea will move into second position, a reward for their consistency in defence since the start of September.

Stoke meet Swansea unbeaten in their last nine home league games against the visitors (W7 D2), winning each of their last four in a row. However, Swansea are looking to complete a league double over Stoke for the first time since the 2000/01 campaign in the third tier, after celebrating a 2-0 win at the Liberty Stadium in October.
Having lost two matches in succession, Stoke are now seven points off the playoffs, putting the Staffordshire outfit under pressure to get a win on the board on Wednesday. On the other hand, should Swansea prevail, with their two matches in hand, they could move into the second position, a reward for their consistency in defence since the start of September.
Both sides will view this contest as one which they must not lose so the BettingKick’s Stoke vs Swansea prediction is: Under 2.5 goals
