Stuttgart vs Bielefeld - Match Preview

There should be a big battle about who qualifies for the UEFA Europa Conference League and who is relegated when VfB Stuttgart host Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday. Read our Stuttgart vs Bielefeld prediction and betting tips.

Stuttgart VS Bielefeld - Betting Preview

Sosa's found career-best form during the Rückrunde, chipping in with seven of his nine-season assists - among them five for top scorer Sasa Kalajdzic. The Croatian-Austrian combo has helped ensure Stuttgart cannot finish lower than 10th, though they could yet climb to seventh and seize the last remaining European spot. For that to happen, Die Schwaben must beat Bielefeld, whilst hoping Borussia Mönchengladbach don't win against Werder Bremen and Union Berlin lose to RB Leipzig. If Gladbach doesn't win and Union draw, VfB needs to win by at least three goals. In both scenarios, Pellegrino Matarazzo's men are dependent on Freiburg not beating Eintracht Frankfurt by two goals more than their winning margin.

Japanese midfielder Wataru Endo has embodied Stuttgart's collective spirit, but the Bundesliga's gold standard for challenges won (476) misses out on the final day after picking up his fifth yellow card of the campaign in the win over Gladbach. Captain Gonzalo Castro is expected to come in for his final game with the club, while Pascal Stenzel is in line to deputize at the back for injured Arsenal loanee Konstantinos Mavropanos. Rookie of the Season Silas Wamangituka is still recovering from a knee ligament operation.

Stuttgart: Kobel - Stenzel, Anton, Kempf - Massimo, Karazor, Castro (c), Sosa - Förster, Didavi - Kalajdzic
Out: Coulibaly (knee), Endo (suspended) Gonzalez (not included), Klimowicz (groin), Mangala (thigh), Silas (knee)
Doubtful: Cisse (knee), Egloff (not included), Mavropanos (muscular)
Coach: Pellegrino Matarazzo

Bielefeld finished 10 points clear of Stuttgart at the top of Bundesliga 2 last season, but have spent the entirety of their first campaign back in the big time after an 11-year hiatus looking nervously over their shoulders. That's still very much the case, despite a run of two wins and four draws across the last seven rounds of fixtures. Frank Kramer has given the team a lift in more ways than one since replacing Uwe Neuhaus as a coach with 12 games to go - they've put two priceless points, and free-falling Bremen, between themselves and second-bottom Koln - but the prospect of an immediate return to the second tier remains.

Happily, their fate is in their own hands. Bielefeld - 15th at the start of play - will be safe if they win and/or equal Bremen and Cologne's results against Gladbach and relegated Schalke respectively. Kramer and Co. will have to do it without suspended left-back Anderson Lucoqui, but Jacob Laursen is a proven alternative. Otherwise, Bielefeld could line up as they did in last weekend's 1-1 draw with Hoffenheim.

Bielefeld: Ortega - Brunner, Pieper, Nilsson, Laursen - Okugawa, Prietl, Maier - Doan, Klos (c), Voglsammer
Out: Lucoqui (suspended)
Doubtful: -
Coach: Frank Kramer

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
