Austrian ace Sasa Kalajdzic will hope to outshine Norwegian superstar Erling Haaland when VfB Stuttgart face Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. Read our reasons for Stuttgart vs Dortmund prediction and betting tips.
With 13 goals in 26 matches so far Kalajdzic is having a sensational first year in the German top flight, although it took Ludwig Augustinsson's own goal to see Stuttgart to a 1-0 win over Werder Bremen last time out. The home side is eighth in the table as a result of that victory but with fellow attackers Nicolas Gonzalez and Silas Wamangituka still injured, the main goal threat will once again be provided by giant Austria frontman Kalajdzic - the league's tallest player at 6'6". Stuttgart has lost just one of their past seven Bundesliga games (4 wins, 2 draws). The Swabians are unbeaten at home in six matches (4 wins, 2 draws) and are currently on a three-game winning streak on home soil. Stuttgart has 39 points. No Bundesliga team has ever been relegated with such a haul. Orel Mangala has suffered a setback in his bid to return from a thigh injury, so experienced former Dortmund man Gonzalo Castro and Wataru Endo will likely provide the punch in midfield for Pellegrino Matarazzo's team.
Stuttgart: Kobel - Mavropanos, Anton, Kempf - Coulibaly, Endo, Castro (c), Sosa - Förster, Klimowicz - Kalajdzic
Out: Gonzalez (thigh), Mangala (thigh), Silas (knee)
Doubtful: Al Ghaddioui (ankle), Egloff (ankle), Mola (hip)
Coach: Pellegrino Matarazzo
Dortmund will have Wednesday's UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg against Manchester City on their minds, but this weekend's encounter is surely a must-win match if they are to target a top-four finish in the Bundesliga. The visitors are now seven points behind fourth-placed Eintracht Frankfurt after a 2-1 home loss against Die Adler last weekend, while they are only four points ahead of Stuttgart. Ansgar Knauff earned a surprise first start for Dortmund in the first leg against City in midweek, and interim coach Edin Terzic said the winger's good performance had shown he deserved more first-team chances.
Marco Reus and Thorgan Hazard, however, are the favorites to provide support for Haaland, who has an incredible 21 goals in 22 Bundesliga appearances this season. England winger Jadon Sancho will miss another game through injury as Dortmund sets out to avenge their 5-1 home defeat against Stuttgart in December. From their past six away games, Dortmund has picked up just four from a possible 18 points. They have won five of their last six trips to Stuttgart, losing last in November 2017. Reus has now gone 14 games (1,079 minutes) without a Bundesliga goal.
Dortmund: Hitz - Can, Akanji, Hummels, Guerreiro - Bellingham, Delaney, Dahoud - Reus (c), Haaland, Hazard
Out: Moukoko (shin), Sancho (thigh), Schmelzer (knee), Witsel (Achilles' tendon), Zagadou (knee)
Doubtful: -
Coach: Edin Terzic

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
