Stuttgart will host Koln on Friday in the first match of Matchday 5 in the Bundesliga.
Stuttgart is unbeaten in three games, a stretch they never managed in their last top-flight campaign in 2018/19. Every Stuttgart fan has a reason to believe that they found a new star in making because their in-form striker Sasa Kalajdzic has not been out of Pellegrino Matarazzo's starting line-up since scoring a debut goal from the bench in the Matchday 1 loss to Freiburg. The tall but very composed and skillful Austrian marked his full Bundesliga debut with a goal and assist in the 4-1 win at Mainz, before moving onto a team-leading three for the season with his strike in the 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen. Hertha Berlin kept him quiet last time out, but Stuttgart won 2-0 with Kempf and Castro's goals on a hard trip to Berlin. Only Robert Lewandowski (43), Andrej Kramaric (45), Niclas Füllkrug (61), and Erling Haaland (74) have a better goals-per-minutes ratio than Kalajdzic (96) this season.
Kalajdzic's performances mean the returning Nico Gonzalez may have to settle for a place on the bench, or perhaps a deeper attacking role alongside Daniel Didavi. Gonzalez, who made his comeback from injury last week, scored just twice in his only previous Bundesliga campaign to date in 2018/19 - but both goals came in matches that Stuttgart lost. He was the best Stuttgart goalscorer in Bundesliga 2 with 14 goals in the last season.
In the defense, with Waldemar Anton still nursing a ligament problem and Arsenal loanee Konstantinos Mavropanos ruled out, Pascal Stenzel and Atakan Karazor are set to continue alongside Marc-Oliver Kempf, who opened the scoring in the 2-0 win in Berlin.
Stuttgart: Kobel - Stenzel, Karazor, Kempf - Silas, Mangala, Endo, Castro (c) - Didavi, Gonzalez - Kalajdzic
Out: Anton (ankle), Awoudja (Achilles tendon), Mavropanos (knee), Mola (hip), Thommy (elbow)
Doubtful: -
Coach: Pellegrino Matarazzo
Koln earned the point at the fourth attempt after coming from behind to draw with Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday. Although summer signing Ondrej Duda's strike put some pressure off the head coach Markus Gisdol following a run of four straight Bundesliga defeats dating back to last season, there are many reasons for concern, their alarming run of 14 top-flight matches without a win. Fifteen would be an unwanted club record. Only Schalke are on a longer winless run than Koln (20 Bundesliga matches). Duda scored his first goal for Cologne on Matchday 3. It was his 13th in 67 Bundesliga appearances. Sebastian Andersson, who was the top scorer at Union Berlin the last term with 12 goals, has not found the net since Matchday 1.
Personnel-wise, deadline day loan signing Marius Wolf made his debut against former club Frankfurt and should continue to the right of Duda. Ismail Jakobs also came through his first league appearance of the campaign, while captain Jonas Hector is set to miss out again with a neck injury. Midfielder Florian Kainz is the only other confirmed absentee, the Austria international having undergone knee surgery earlier in the summer.
Koln: T. Horn (c) - Ehizibue, Bornauw, Czichos, J. Horn - Skhiri, Rexhbecaj - Wolf, Duda, Jakobs - Andersson
Out: Hector (neck), Kainz (knee)
Doubtful: Clemens (thigh), Höger (knee), Thielmann (ill)
Coach: Markus Gisdol

Stuttgart is in fine form and the level of performances is on the rise, so Koln will have a hard time turning around the season on this trip against the team with such confidence. Stuttgart is a better team at the moment and the home team should win in this game.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
