Swansea host Derby at the Liberty Stadium (Swansea) in the 45th round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 12.30 pm (UK) on Saturday, May 1. Read our reasons for Swansea vs Derby prediction and betting tips.
The Swans booked their place in the play-offs last week following a 2-2 draw at Reading, who saw their hopes ended after that result. Cooper’s side now face Derby and already-promoted Watford as they sign off their league campaign. On the other hand, Derby, who are locked in a relegation battle, have lost five games on the trot and are close to being shorn of their Championship status. The Rams need favours, luck, and a kick up the hind quarters. Claiming just one point across their last eight away days and conceding an average of two goals per game during that run, is no survivalist mentality.
Swansea City will feature promotional playoffs regardless of what happens in the last two rounds of the regular season. Steve Cooper has already begun to limit his stars' minutes, trying to keep them well rested for the most important matches in the post-season. Nonetheless, the Swans will clearly want to boost up the confidence ahead of these games. They are not doing very well at the moment, having claimed just two points in the last three league affairs.
With their play-off status assured, Cooper believes it is more about building momentum – rather than resting players – when the Swans take on the Rams and Hornets. Swansea need to get their balance right with two games still left to play and a lot of good can come out from that in terms of results and performances. As for Saturday’s game, with eight of their last ten matches seeing just one team get on the scoresheet, a goal-fest is unlikely, especially as three of these two teams’ last six meetings have ended with under 2.5 goals.
Meanwhile, Derby will be hoping to snatch salvation points on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Wales to take on Swansea City at Liberty Stadium. The Rams have not been pulling up any trees of late as a series of five subsequent defeats kept them close to the danger area. Wayne Rooney’s men are only four points above Huddersfield Town who also have a game in hand on them, meaning a defeat here could seriously hurt the team.
The Rams will travel to Swansea next Saturday but will be also sweating on the result from Rotherham who host Blackburn. The Rams are four points above the relegation zone, but the Millers have a game in hand over Derby. Having conceded nearly two thirds of 30 league away ‘goals against’ them this term in the second half, and with ten such goals arriving after the 75th minute, Derby’s 35-year stint in England's top two tiers is in real danger of ending.

Swansea meet Derby having previously not won in seven league matches against the Rams (D3, L4) since winning 1-0 in February 2010. Moreover, Derby are looking to record only their second league double over Swansea, also doing so in 1985-86.
Swansea conceded only 15 goals in 22 home fixtures this season and they are playing Derby who took only one point from the last eight league outings on the road. However, the Swans have not been quite impressive in the final third of late either, especially in the fixtures at Liberty Stadium where they failed to find the back of the net in three of the last four matches.
BettingKick’s Swansea vs Derby prediction is: Under 2.5 goals
