Swansea host Wycombe at the Liberty Stadium (Swansea) in the 42nd round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 12.30 pm (UK) on Saturday, April 17. Read our reasons for Swansea vs Wycombe prediction and betting tips.
Swansea bolstered their promotion hopes by beating Sheffield Wed 2-0 at Hillsborough in midweek. Victory over Darren Moore's side - which came just three days after a 3-0 triumph over Millwall at The Den - lifted the Swans up to third in the table, meaning Steve Cooper's troops are now just seven points behind second-placed Watford. Meanwhile, the first defeat in four for Gareth Ainsworth's Chairboys left them nine points from safety with only five games left after losing 3-1 at home to Luton. The home side dug deep in search of a fifth clean sheet in six games, but the Hatters turned the tables to inflict what may be a final blow to the Chairboys’ survival hopes.
Since the Football League was restructured in 2004, sides who finish sixth in the Championship end the campaign with an average of 74 points. Swansea have amassed 75 points already and still have to play Wycombe, QPR, Reading, Derby, and Watford in the coming weeks. It now means they need just four more points to guarantee a play-off spot, but Steve Cooper reckons the chase for automatic promotion is back on and his Swansea side have not given up hope of catching Watford.
Still eagerly pursuing automatic promotion, they’ll want to improve their recent four-game home form (W1, L3), although, they are unbeaten at home against the sides starting the weekend inside the bottom four. The Swans got back-to-back victories for the first time since early March following four successive defeats. It was a good positive response on Saturday and again on Tuesday night, though it doesn’t mean the blip is over yet. To play like that over two games is really good, but now they need to keep going.
As for Wycombe, the Chairboys were 1-0 up against Luton on Saturday through an Anis Mehmeti penalty, but after Josh Knight was sent off just before the hour mark for a challenge on Jordan Clark, the Hatters piled on the pressure and scored three times in the final 10 minutes to snatch the points. Late strikes continue to hurt Gareth Ainsworth’s side as they’ve conceded 18 times this term after the 75th minute, including the three times at the weekend.
The Luton result marked Wycombe’s first defeat since Barnsley on March 17th and leaves them with five remaining games to secure Championship status for next season. If anything, if Ainsworth’s bottom side are going down, they’re doing so fighting after just two defeats across their last six Championship fixtures (W3, D1). However, after a late surge in their almost impossible fight against relegation, they remain at the bottom of the Championship table for now.

Swansea meet Wycombe looking to record a Championship double over the Chairboys after celebrating a 2-0 win in the reverse fixture in September. As it stands, both teams have won five times each in their last twelve head-to-head meetings.
With two consecutive 1-0 losses at home against Preston and Cardiff, the Swans now host a bottom side, who have failed to score in five of their previous six away matches (W1, D2, L3) which highlights the ‘Chairboys’ struggle in front of goal when playing away this season.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
