Sweden meet Slovakia at the Gazprom Arena (Saint Petersburg) in the EURO 2020 Group E Round 2 match and the game kicks off at 2 pm (UK) on Friday, June 18. Read our reason for Sweden vs Slovakia prediction and betting tips.
INCREDIBLE OPPORTUNITY FOR THE GROUP UNDERDOGS
Slovakia recorded a surprise victory in their opener against Poland, and favorites Spain were held to a draw in their first game by Sweden. Thus, the two favorites have dropped points, and have increased the chances of the other two. On top of that, Spain and Poland are pitted against each other this game week – which means at least one of the two will be dropping points again. This is quite honestly an incredible opportunity. Slovakia are at the top of the table with three points, and if they are able to secure one more win this Friday, their progression to the knockouts would be almost certain. Sweden are placed second with one point, and they have already avoided a loss in what was supposed to be their toughest fixture. A win this weekend will increase their chances of progression manifold.
SWEDEN TO KEEP PERFECT HEAD TO HEAD RECORD
Janne Andersson’s Sweden travel to St Petersburg in high spirits after recording the lowest possession total in European Championship history last time out (15%), yet still holding on for a vital point against Spain. Victory here would likely see Sweden qualify as one of the best-ranked third-placed sides at the very least and encouragingly, they head into this game unbeaten vs Slovakia in head to head history (W2, D3).
Blågult (The Blue and Yellow) did have two great chances to break the deadlock themselves, though. Alexander Isak’s shot deflected off a defender and onto the post while the Real Sociedad striker teed up Marcus Berg to miss a sitter at the back post. Overall, Janne Andersson cannot be anything other than satisfied because his side played really well, showed resiliancy, and are developing good tactical flexibility.
TIP #1: Sweden had previously rattled off five consecutive clean-sheet victories, and they also have a superb H2H record against this rival. In fact, they even registered a 6-0 win against them just a year back. Sweden to win to nil here stands out from the Sweden vs Slovakia odds.
CAN SLOVAKIA GO TOP OF GROUP C?
A shock victory for Slovakia in their Group E opener versus Poland gives them a chance of sealing progression to the round of 16 for the second time in as many European Championship finals appearances should they follow up here. Bearing in mind that Spain are Slovakia’s final group opponents, just a point in this crunch match will likely see them qualify - just as their group return of four points did in 2016 as the best-ranked third-placed side.
Slovakia played in a positive manner versus Poland, with Ondrej Duda going close before Robert Mak’s shot took a slight deflection, hit the post and then bounced in off Wojciech Szczesny. Poland equalised when Karol Linetty finished off a fine move just after half-time but were rocked by Grzegorz Krychowiak’s dismissal on 62 minutes. The Falcons took full advantage when Milan Skriniar controlled well in the box and fired a low shot into the net.
TIP #2: Slovakia will face a different kind of physical threat from Isak, who looked a real handful when named La Liga young player of the year last term. Let’s back the 21-year-old to score any time to our Sweden vs Slovakia betting tips.

Sweden rode their luck at times when drawing with Spain but are still fancied to build on that gutsy effort by beating Slovakia in Saint Petersburg. The Falcons kicked off their Euro 2020 Group E campaign by upsetting 10-man Poland but are rated inferior to their next opponents on overall form.
BettingKick’s Sweden vs Slovakia prediction is: Sweden to win.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
