Sweden meet Ukraine at the Hampden Park (Glasgow) in the EURO 2020 Round of 16 clash and the game kicks off at 5 pm (UK) on Tuesday, June 29. Read our reason for Sweden vs Ukraine prediction and betting tips.
TIGHT HUSSLE EXPECTED BETWEEN SWEDEN AND UKRAINE
Sweden topped their group ahead of Spain after winning a five-goal thriller with Poland in their last game. They are now unbeaten in their last eight. This is their 6th consecutive appearance at the competition and third time to the knockout phase but fell at the first hurdle in previous two. Meanwhile, Ukraine were tipped by many to beat the Netherlands to first place in their group but they ended up sneaking through as one of the best third-place finishers and are simply far too inconsistent to back them with any confidence. At least with Sweden you generally know what you are going to get.
SCANDINAVIANS TO SHADE HAMPDEN TIE
A 93rd minute Viktor Claesson strike was enough to help Sweden not only defeat Poland 3-2 in their final group E match, but also secure top spot heading into their first knockout round appearance since 2004. This Swedish side is a resilient outfit though, conceding an average of just 0.38 goals across their last eight internationals. In fact, six clean sheets have been kept across that stint, including two in the group stages versus Spain and Slovakia.
This Swedish team has a habit of overloading their defense, but they need to rethink their strategy after Poland almost tear them to pieces in the final group game. Scoreline do tell some part of it with Robin Olsen had to pull-out some stunning saves between the goals. Despite Emil Forsberg coming alive in the final group game, none of the strikers looked to have the lethal touch to punish the teams on the break and it remains to be seen if someone like Dejan Kulusevski can fill the void.
TIP #1: RB Leipzig forward Emil Forsberg has scored three of their four goals and looking at the odds, penalty taker Forsberg has to be fancied to break scor eat anytime here.
LACK OF BIG MATCH EXPERIENCE TO COUNT AGAINST UKRAINE
Squeaking through as the fourth ‘third-best’ side on goal difference, Ukraine will be looking for victory in their first-ever Euros knockout round appearance as an independent nation. Shevchenko’s side will need to drastically improve though, as his team looked shaky defensively in the group stages whilst their overall return of just two wins from nine matches at European Championships finals fails to inspire.
Showing indifferent form over their last nine internationals (W3, D4, L2), Ukraine at least provide entertainment whenever they play, highlighted by both teams scoring in six of those fixtures. Ukraine is a young team, good on the counter and set pieces, though their defending is dubious having conceded 5 goals in the group games. They are over dependent on Yarmolenko and Yaremchuk for goals, while Atalanta’s Ruslan Malinovsky failed to lift the spirits.
TIP #2: Ukraine’s Andriy Yarmolenko has also been in fantastic form at Euro 2020, scoring twice and assisting once and we back him to break the deadlock here for Ukraine.

In what is generally regarded as the weakest of the Euro 2020 last-16 ties, a tight tussle is expected between Sweden and Ukraine. However, slight preference is for the Scandinavians, who beat Switzerland at this point in the 2018 World Cup and impressed more during the group stage of this event.
We’re siding with Janne Andersson’s team to win in normal time for our final BettingKick’s Sweden vs Ukraine prediction.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
