After last seasons’ 7-0 defeat at home vs Atalanta, Torino will seek revenge at Stadio Olimpico di Torino on Saturday.
Torino didn’t start the season well and a 1-0 defeat vs Fiorentina will not help their confidence. On the other side, they will not need further motive after the devastated 7-0 loss from the last season that put the shadow over anything Torino did in the previous campaign. They have run of two back-to-back defeats after losing a friendly to Pro Vercelli earlier and one win in their last nine meetings, with four defeats in that period, suggests that Torino needs a fresh start. Good thing is that their home ground is usually a fortress with just two wins for visiting sides in the last thirteen games. The game in Firenze could go even worse for them but Fiorentina missed several great chances from the open play and Torino had only 6 attempts at goal, 3 shots on goal, 1 corner kick, 1 big chance created, and 83% of the correct passes.
Torino ended last season in 16th place with 40 points, and their defense was problematic but they haven’t done anything in the offseason to improve in that department. If they fix their defense, Torino is looking at another season where they will be fighting to stay outside the relegation zone. Attacking players will certainly score the goals in the new season, they will probably try to exploit the qualities of both strikers, Belloti and Zaza, but past matches showed that they had troubles when both of them are on the pitch together. Baselli, Rodriguez, and Singo are likely to miss the game through injury for the hosts and their coach Marco Giampaolo.
Torino: Salvatore Sirigu, Cristian Daniel Ansaldi, Nicolas N'Koulou, Bremer, Armando Izzo, Souahilo Meite, Tomas Rincon, Karol Linetty, Andrea Belotti, Simone Zaza and Alejandro Berenguer Remiro.
Atalanta had a week more for the preparation after their great season in UEFA Champions League and third place in the standings in the Serie A. Attack-minded approach paid off in most occasions in the last season and a 7-0 victory against Torino in the Stadio Olimpico was one of the signs that Gian Piero Gasperini and his men are doing great things in Bergamo. Josip Iličić missed the last stages of the season due to muscle injury and private issues but he could be once again the key for Atalanta success. He scored a hat-trick, Luis Muriel brace, and Zapata and Gosens one goal in that encounter that has his place in Atalanta history and fans will want more of that at the start of the new season.
Atalanta was given longer rest than the other teams in the Italian topflight due to their participation in Europe. Colombia international Duvan Zapata is expected to lead the most powerful attack in last season in Italy and after some inquiries from clubs in the transfer window, he stayed in the Bergamo. Ahead of this meeting, Atalanta is undefeated in their previous 10 away league matches and that is not unfamiliar for the side that likes to make quick transitions and counterattacks. Atalanta has a fantastic last season where they ended up in third place in the standings with 78 points and 98 scored goals.
The team from Bergamo was active on the market in the offseason, and they have sold Castagne to Leicester City, Pasalic was permanently signed by them, while Miranchuk arrived from Lokomotiv Moscow. Muratore and Romero are new options for Gasperini from Juventus, while Piccini arrived on loan from Valencia.
Marco Tumminello, Pierluigi Gollini, and Aleksey Miranchuk are not ready for selection. Ineligible players who cannot play in this game through suspension are Cristian Romero and Berat Djimsiti.
Atalanta: Marco Sportiello, Rafael Toloi, Mattia Caldara, Jose Luis Palomino, Hans Hateboer, Remo Freuler, Marten De Roon, Robin Gosens, Mario Pasalic, Ruslan Malinovsky and Duván Zapata.

Atalanta will once again be in the title race this season and they must win these types of games to be competitive until the end. The away win is a good betting option.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
