Torino’s struggles continue week by week, as a team is still stuck in the relegation zone after twelve rounds, but they welcome Bologna, who are also in bad shape at the moment.
Torino director of sport Davide Vagnati was furious after the 3-1 defeat to Roma. ‘We’re speechless that a player can be sent off after 14 minutes for a refereeing error.’ The game was inevitably transformed when Wilfried Singo received his second yellow card at the 14th minute for what seemed to be a 50-50 challenge with Leonardo Spinazzola, as both players went in with feet raised. Torino was also angry about the opening goal, as Gianluca Mancini’s challenge on Andrea Belotti was considered to be fair in the build-up.
Torino has quite a few injuries with Cristian Ansaldi (thigh), Vincenzo Millico (muscle fatigue), Simone Verdi (adductor), and Simone Zaza (muscle fatigue) all ruled out alongside long-term absentee Daniele Baselli. Wing-back Wilfried Singo is suspended for the clash after getting sent off in the defeat to Roma in the midweek. Midfielder Tomas Rincon and center-back Lyanco are running the risk of suspension as they're on four yellow cards each. Getting booked again on Sunday will see them suspended for the Napoli trip next week.
Torino (3-5-2): Salvatore Sirigu; Lyanco, Nicolas N'Koulou, Ricardo Rodriguez; Iago Falque, Soualiho Meite, Tomas Rincon, Karol Linetty, Cristian Ansaldi; Simone Zaza, Andrea Belotti.
Bologna has decided to break off the training retreat early, as it had been planned to run until December 23. The squad was placed into lockdown to help them focus after a 5-1 home defeat to Roma, in which all five goals were conceded before half-time. Following coming back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Spezia, even seeing a last-gasp penalty saved, coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, the club, and players decided to interrupt the training retreat. They will therefore be allowed to go home and spend time with their families before the game against Torino.
Musa Barrow was both hero and villain for Bologna, as his lob from midfield completed the comeback for 2-2 against Spezia, only to see his penalty saved. It was certainly an action-packed game, the first in Serie A to be played at the Stadio Picco since its restructuring work was completed. Spezia felt at home straight away, going 2-0 up with an M’Bala Nzola brace. However, Nico Dominguez got Bologna back into it before Barrow spotted Ivan Provedel off his line for a lobbed equalizer. The visitors even had the chance to win it, but Provedel parried Barrow’s penalty at the 97th minute.
Bologna has a bigger injury list heading into the match. Federico Santander (knee surgery), Andreas Olsen (spinal fracture), Riccardo Orsolini (muscle injury), Lukasz Skorupski (fracture), Nicola Sansone (groin injury), Jerdy Schouten (muscle fatigue), and Ibrahim Mbaye (muscle injury), all remain sidelined. Left-back Aaron Hickey tested positive for COVID-19 last week and will miss the clash.
Bologna (4-2-3-1): Angelo da Costa; Lorenzo De Silvestri, Danilo, Nehuen Paz, Takehiro Tomiyasu; Gary Medel, Nicolas Dominguez; Rodrigo Palacio, Roberto Soriano, Emanuel Vignato; Musa Barrow.

Torino has conceded the most goals in Serie A, so both teams to score looks like an almost sure bet.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
