Milan received a massive boost in their bid for Champions League football but lost Zlatan Ibrahimovic against a Torino side who aren’t safe yet. Read our Torino vs Milan prediction and betting tips.
Torino coach Davide Nicola praised his players after an away 1-1 draw against Hellas Verona: ‘It was a fair result.’ Mërgim Vojvoda broke the deadlock with five minutes remaining at the Stadio Bentegodi, but Federico Dimarco scored the equalizer less than two minutes later. “We have regrets as the target was close, but the draw is a fair result,” Nicola told the media. “The lads are giving everything. They are training every day in a very smart way, and we are trying to improve in every aspect. The weight of the result is different in these games and I can see right commitment,” the coach continued. “Their goal came after a series of mistakes, not just one. We had already risked before when they created trouble for us. The important thing is to keep believing and have consistency. I had told the lads we needed everyone’s help. We picked up a point and we must get ready for the next game, which will be very important. The draw is a positive result because stats prove Verona is a very strong side when it comes to counterattacking and win individual duels. They have many points, so credit to them because they’ve been proving their qualities during the entire season.”
The Granata will play the rescheduled fixture from matchday 25 against Lazio on May 18. They are hovering four points above Benevento who sit third from the bottom. “We believe we can make it, we are aware we have to fight until the end, four games are remaining, one every three days,” Nicola claimed. “I am happy for the lads because we have 20 starters and everyone has been helpful so far.”

Stefano Pioli said Milan ‘have not done anything yet’ and that the Rossoneri ‘cannot celebrate until we have reached the Champions League’. The 3-0 win over Juventus means Milan sits third in Serie A, three points above the Old Lady at fifth. Pioli stressed his men can’t rest and is focused on continuing with another positive result against Torino. “We must have balance,” Pioli said at a press conference. “Just as we have not been demoralized after Lazio, we will not be distracted after Juve. We are focused, this game is fundamental, there’s still a need to score points. We have won against a historic opponent, we have faith and we are aware, but we know that we haven’t done anything yet. We will only be able to celebrate when we have reached the Champions League. It’s time to keep this attitude. I’m not afraid of euphoria, but I’m worried because the details can always determine a match and we have some difficulties. The next game will be different from Sunday’s. The opponents play with a different system and attitude, so it will all depend on the choices I make. The team have recovered well, we must have the same attention.”
Pioli confirmed Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not be available for the two next games, but hopes to have the Swede back in action for the final game against Atalanta. He was asked about the contractual situations of some key players, above all Gianluigi Donnarumma, who has yet to confirm his stay at Milanello. “He’s a professional, very attached to the moment and the situation,” Pioli continued. “Like all of us, he’s focused on Torino-Milan, Milan-Cagliari, and Atalanta-Milan. On May 24, they will sum up someone’s next choices, until then, no one will think about their future. You play as a team, winning or losing. If the performances of the individuals increase their value, then the team’s value increases too and the result of the season.”
Milan (4-2-3-1): G Donnarumma; Calabria, Kjaer, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Bennacer, Kessie; Castillejo, Brahim Diaz, Calhanoglu; Rebic
Suspended: Saelemaekers
Injured: Ibrahimovic

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
