Torino is yet to win a game at home in Serie A this season and hope for Andrea Belotti to be fit when they host Sampdoria on Monday evening.
Torino is in desperate need of points from the Monday night visit of Sampdoria after their disastrous defeat to Inter Milan last week. It was a wild game at San Siro, as Torino took a 2-0 lead and seemed destined for a shock victory, only for Inter to turn it around and win 4-2. The Granata lost star striker Andrea Belotti in the warm-up and Simone Verdi soon after, but Simone Zaza still gave them a deserved lead on the counter-attack. VAR was used to give Cristian Ansaldi a penalty for 2-0, but that woke the Nerazzurri up for a furious comeback. Within a few minutes, it was 2-2 through Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku, then VAR intervened again for a Lukaku penalty, as Achraf Hakimi was not offside following a second Nicolas Nkoulou touch. Lautaro Martinez completed the route on a Lukaku assist, meaning Torino have thrown away 14 points from leading situations this season.
A few days later, Simone Zaza and Federico Bonazzoli scored the goals when Torino secured a 2-0 win over Virtus Entella in the fourth round of the Coppa Italia. Entella arrived after having split with Benito Tedino earlier this week and new coach Vincenzo Vivarini saw an inspired side give the Granata a good game at the Grande Torino. But the Serie A side proved too strong for the Serie B strugglers, as Zaza and Bonazzoli wrapped up a comfortable win in the first half.
Torino boss Marco Giampaolo is still out with COVID, while Amer Gojak, Sasa Lukic, and Samir Ujkani are also isolating due to recent positive tests. La Granata is sweating over the fitness of Andrea Belotti, who missed the midweek game. Simone Verdi is out, joining Daniele Baselli and Mergim Vojvoda on the sidelines. With Armando Izzo's back fit, Torino could select the same three-man backline they employed against Virtus Entella and Inter Milan.
Torino (3-5-2): Salvatore Sirigu (GK); Bremer, Nicolas N'Koulou, Armando Izzo; Wilfried Singo, Soualiho Meite, Tomas Rincon, Karol Linetty, Ricardo Rodriguez; Simone Zaza, Andrea Belotti
Sampdoria has now gone four games without a win in all competitions following successive losses during the past week. Bologna was grateful for Sampdoria's errors that allowed them to complete the comeback for a 2-1 victory at Marassi. Morten Thorsby’s header from a corner had put the Blucerchiati in front early doors, confirming Bologna's inability to keep a clean sheet. However, Vasco Regini had a bit of a nightmare, turning Riccardo Orsolini’s corner into his net under no pressure, then failing to mark the same player for a header at the back post on Musa Barrow’s cross.
Gianluca Scamacca scored two and created another, as Genoa fought back from Sampdoria’s opening goal to set up a Coppa Italia Round of 16 ties with Juventus. Samp had the stronger start and rattled the crossbar in the opening minutes through Antonino La Gumina, Valerio Verre eventually broke the deadlock with an unstoppable right-foot strike from outside the box into the far top corner. However, Genoa’s on-form Italy Under-21 international Scamacca finished off a rapid counter-attack sparked by Shomurodov to equalize on the hour mark. He then created the second goal, as Emil Audero only parried Scamacca’s header into the path of Lukas Lerager. Genoa ran riot, Scamacca getting the third himself on the counter after Silva lost possession in midfield, adding to the equalizer he scored in their recent Serie A Derby della Lanterna.
Tommaso Augello and Lorenzo Tonelli served their suspension against Bologna and are expected to return to the defensive backline as Claudio Ranieri has little room to rotate. Keita Balde will remain out injured until December. Sampdoria is praying for Fabio Quagliarella to be ready for Monday's encounter, with the forward-facing a late fitness test ahead of the game.
Sampdoria (4-4-2): Emil Audero (GK); Bartosz Bereszynski, Omar Lorenzo Tonelli, Maya Yoshida, Tommaso Augello; Antonio Candreva, Albin Ekdal, Morten Thorsby, Mikkel Damsgaard; Gaston Ramirez, Fabio Quagliarella

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
