The postponed game between relegation-bound Torino and Sassuolo will be played on Wednesday afternoon. Read our reasons for Torino vs Sassuolo prediction and betting tips.
This fixture was originally scheduled for February 26 but was postponed due to an outbreak of coronavirus at Il Toro's training ground. Davide Nicola was satisfied with Torino's performance against Inter. 'We would have deserved a point.' The Granata suffered a 2-1 defeat at Inter's hands. "Performance was really good. I liked the game, we helped each other, and I saw an organized team," Nicola told the media. "We had decided not to use long balls and play the ball instead. We are sorry for the defeat that came for the goal of a great footballer. We would deserve a draw, but these kinds of performances are the right ones to reach our target."
Antonio Sanabria scored his two goals in two appearances. "We believe in him, but he has the same responsibility as other footballers," Nicola said. "We knew he could help us. He missed five games due to COVID. Belotti returned to action today, we need him for the near future and the same goes for Linetty and Bremer. We want to recover everyone keeping our tactical principles.” Baselli was replaced at the beginning of the second half with an injury. We are sorry, for him, he returned to action after a knee injury, then he had COVID. We'll see how he feels.”
Torino pair Wilfred Singo and Nicolas Nkoulou are to await results of coronavirus re-tests before kickoff and if they are fit to play, then they could both feature in the matchday squad. Experienced midfielder Tomas Rincon is back from suspension and is in contention to start for the hosts this weekend. Left wing-back Cristian Ansaldi could be recalled to the starting lineup at the expense of Nicola Murru, while top goalscorer Andrea Belotti is expected to return up front alongside either Simone Zaza or Antonio Sanabria.
Torino: Sirigu; Izzo, Lyanco, Bremer; Vojvoda, Rincon, Mandragora, Lukic, Ansaldi; Sanabria, Belotti
Roberto De Zerbi admitted the 3-2 win over Verona could’ve gone either way at 2-2, but he feels Sassuolo ‘deserved’ all three points. It was a very entertaining match at the Mapei Stadium but hard-fought, as the Neroverdi were twice pegged back to a draw before Junior Hamed Traore’s decisive goal. “I think we deserved to win. We indeed made some adjustments, such as sitting a little deeper, because we respect Verona and didn’t want to press them high with the risk of sparking their intensity,” De Zerbi told the media. “We could’ve been more than a goal up at half-time, but Verona cause problems for everyone and they never back down.”
Ivan Juric claimed Verona dominated the game and could’ve won it before the late Sassuolo strike. “I am honest and say that when it was 2-2, we could well have lost. We could also have been 2-0 up at the break and conceded a goal entirely against the run of play, it came out of nowhere. It’s Verona, you can lose any match against Verona.'' Sassuolo leapfrogged Verona in the table and still has a game in hand, so how high can they go? “I think if we confirm our status in eighth place, that is already a fantastic result. Unless someone in the top seven slips up, we’ll struggle to catch them, especially as so many of them have gone out of Europe. If we want to do something more, we need to notch up a run of wins and be ready for the final sprint.”
For Sassuolo, midfielder Mehdi Bourabia (hamstring) and center-back Filippo Romagna (knee) are both ruled out with injuries. Winger Jeremie Boga could return to the first XI, while Francesco Caputo, who is one goal away from scoring his 50th in Serie A, is expected to lead the line once again with either Filip Djuricic or Hamad Traore playing in behind.
Sassuolo: Consigli; Toljan, Ferrari, Chiriches, Rogerio; Locatelli, Obiang; Berardi, Traore, Boga; Caputo

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
