The North London derby this time will not only give opposing fans bragging rights, but will carry a huge significance as well. Both teams have had poor seasons by their standards, with lots of ups and downs, and coming into this game Arsenal sits in the 8th place, with just a point above Spurs. They have the same goal difference (48) as well, so they are pretty much levelled on all fronts. Leaving the bitter rival behind and clenching the Europa League spot might just be enough for both teams not to deem this campaign a failed one. The game kicks off at 4.30pm (UK) when Tottenham host Arsenal on Sunday 12 July at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
Tottenham heads into this game after a dissapointing, goalless draw against Bournmouth on Thursday. They didn't show urgency in a lacklustre display, where they didn't manage a single shot on target and Harry Kane had his first touch in the box 23min before the end. On a more positive note, they have now had back-to-back clean sheets, a feat they haven't accomplished in Premier League since April 2019. Having said that, they did concede twice, but both Callum Wilson and Joshua King's goals were dissalowed.
Jose Murinho's side has definitely been struggling to produce the goods this season and this was another dire performance. Disinterested, timid and lacking in urgency. Their record signing, Tanguy Ndombele has hardly been given any time on the pitch since March, and Mourinho will probably look to overhaul the squad in summer if chairman Daniel Levy decides to put up with him for another season. Beating Arsenal and qualifying for the Europ League will might just borrow him some time.
Arsenal were also painfully reminded of their own insufficiences with an equally dissapointing draw against Leicester at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday. Aubameyang's goal gave them the lead in the first half, which they weren't able to hold onto till the end. Too typical of Arsenal to squander a lead and not to capitalize on their striker's fine form. One can also argue that defence consisting of Daniel Luiz, Shkodran Mustafi and Sead Kolasinac is to prone to mistakes and definitely not of Arsenal's usual level.
Mikel Arteta's side are in a slightly better shape coming into this match, with an unbeaten run of five games. On the other hand, Mourinho's Spurs are unbeaten in the last three North London derbies.
To be fair to Arsenal,it looked like they were heading for the win until Eddie Nketiah's red card allowed Leicester to get back in the game and Jamie Vardy to score the equalizer.

The Spurs will be without suspended Eric Dier, who has a four-match ban after confronting a fan, which will add another blow to Mourinho's disspirited side. Arsenal will be without Nketiah, after the FA upheld the three-match ban after Arsenal appeal.
But, kid yourselves not. The fans have seen better teams playing in the derby, but the stakes will be high, and the tension will probably be palpable. Both teams will try to inflict misery on their opponent but will they have the tools to get the job done?

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
