Tottenham host Burnley at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (London) in the 26th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 2 pm (UK) on Sunday, February 28. Read our reasons for Tottenham vs Burnley prediction and betting tips.
Talk of a Tottenham title tilt seems like a distant memory and Jose Mourinho's team will be desperate to stop the rot when Burnley come calling on Sunday. Spurs slumped to a 2-1 defeat at London rivals West Ham last Sunday, the setback which means Mourinho's men have now lost four of their last five top-flight matches, a sequence that has seen Spurs slip down to ninth-place in the standings. Meanwhile, Burnley head into this bout off the back of a not so barnstorming 0-0 draw with West Brom, but that result extended the Clarets unbeaten run in the Premier League to four matches. The Lancashire outfit have looked like their old selves in recent months and will provide Spurs with a stern test on Sunday.
The decline of Spurs has been rapid- from title contenders to out-of-contention for the Champions League places, after winning just 1 game of their previous 5 league games. A defeat against Burnley would pressure Mourinho, after rumours about his sacking are gaining momentum, because of inconsistency and lack of desirable game play standards, which are set extremely high in English football. Spurs do have a game in hand, meaning it is theoretically only a six-point deficit. However, there is just no room for mistakes, especially not against out-of-form bottom-half rivals.
Tottenham are trying to catch the last train for the battle for the top-four finish at the end of this Premier League season. The Spurs had a dominant win in the Europa, after crushing Wolfsberger 8-1 on aggregate in Europa League in midweek, and are expected to carry that form into the Premier League. A win here would boost Tottenham’s fight for the European spot after stalling their top-flight progress and denting their bid to enter the Champions League again.
As for Burnley, the Clarets boosted their survival prospects with a cracking 3-0 win at Crystal Palace on their last road trip. However, the Clarets will have been frustrated to subsequently only draw with third-from-bottom Fulham and relegation favourites West Brom at Turf Moor. While Sean Dyche was able to see at least something from his men in a 1-1 draw to Fulham, the last weekend’s goalless draw against West Brom was outright catastrophic. The Clarets had an extra man on the pitch for more than an hour, but the Baggies were by far the more dominant side on the pitch.
Burnley are unbeaten in four straight league matches, but they have been dreadful in the last couple of performances. Moreover, injuries are piling up again and Jay Rodriguez became the latest worry after going off midway through the second half with a calf complaint. Burnley begin their tough list of fixtures as they face Tottenham, Leicester, Arsenal, and Everton in succession. The Clarets are a side that could attack Spurs on the counter, with Spurs expected to dominate possession and the game. A valuable victory here will give them a much-needed cushion over the relegation zone.

Tottenham meet Burnley having won five of their last six home Premier League games against Burnley (D1), netting 16 goals and conceding just three in those games, while Burnley are looking for their first away top-flight win against Spurs since way back in October 1974.
Despite the fact that Tottenham have lost five of their last six Premier League games (W1), more than they had in their previous 28 in the competition, while Burnley have won four of their last six Premier League games in London (L2), more than they had in their previous 35 in the top-flight, we still see the Spurs as favourites here, after they tasted emphatic success in Europe.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
