Tottenham host Chelsea in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (London) on Tuesday, September 29 and the match kicks off at 7.45pm (UK).
MATCH PREVIEW
Tottenham have been given a bye into the Carabao Cup fourth round after their tie with Leyton Orient was called off when a number of Orient's players tested positive for Covid-19. The English Football League decided the League Two club must forfeit the tie having been unable to play the fixture, in line with competition rules. Therefore, Spurs will now face Premier League rivals Chelsea, who demolished the Championship side Barnsley in midweek (6-0), in the last 16 on Tuesday.
MATCH ANALYSIS
Due to coronavirus outbreak in Leyton Orient squad, last week's Tottenham's third round Carabao Cup was called off and the Spurs were given a walk-over to the next round, They also had an Europa League match against Macedonian side Shkendija on Thursday, which they won and progressed into play-off round . All that, plus another Premier League match on Sunday when they welcome Newcastle will have taken place by the time they play Chelsea in their Carabao Cup meeting.
Tottenham recovered after a pondering and slow start against Everton and Jose Mourinho, who helped them finish sixth last year, had to address the issues and make sure they brought the game to Southampton the following week, which they eventually did, by being more aggressive and direct. Harry Kane shone, and was Mourinho's unofficial man of the match with two disallowed goals, one actual goal, and four assists for Son Seung-Min. Meanwhile, they signed back Gareth Bale from Real Madrid, who wasn't on the bench against Newcastle, but will hopefully be in the starting eleven against Chelsea.
As for Chelsea, they won comfortably on their opening day match away to Brighton (1-3), but faltered in league's first match-up between top-four clubs. They welcomed defending champions Liverpool, and ended up losing 0-2 in what was really a conservative and uninspiring display on their behalf. They were playing with ten men in the second-half, but the game-plan throughout the match was to lump forward balls to Timo Werner.
They played better against Barnsley in the third round of the Carabao Cup, and with a hat-trick from their latest signing Havertz, were confident coming into the Premier League match against West Brom on Saturday. However, they were forced to dig deep to get themselves up from being three goals down and eventually they ended up with a draw (3-3). Frank Lampard said there was a lesson to be learned in the post-match comments, but he will certainly have more reasons to worry after yet another shaky defensive display.

Last but not least, let's see the facts and stats. Looking back over the last decade, the two sides have played 38 times. The Spurs have won 9 and the Blues have won 19 , while 10 matches ended in a draw.
Tottenham have kept 9 clean sheets in those meetings and the visitors have kept their net on 14 of those occasions.
Both teams have scored in 24 out of 38 matches these two teams have played recently. That makes it 74% on average. Tottenham's home games have seen 19 of their home matches ending with both teams scoring (W5 -D4-L4), while Chelsea have failed to score only 4 times (W0-D1-L3) when away to Tottenham
Finally, when these sides have faced each other, there has been an average of 2.13 goals per game. Out of these, Tottenham have scored an average of 1.26 goals, while Chelsea have averaged 1.87.
My prediction: Under 2.5 goals

Wyatt grew up in the suburbs of London and he is a big Chelsea fan. As a young boy, he found his love for football, which became an obsession, but when he tried playing it he soon realized that he just wasn't talented enough. Bearing that in mind, Wyatt decided to learn everything there is to know about all the teams and players, with special focus on Premier League and Championship . Wyatt has a big affection for Championship and he is well versed in all the teams and knows their advantages and weak spots very well. He is an economist, and being one makes him good with numbers and also good with the odds. His specialty are BTTS matches.
