TOTTENHAM VS LEICESTER MATCH ANALYSIS
Tottenham come into this game on the back of a 2-1 defeat against Liverpool on Wednesday at Anfield. The loss to defending champions means that they no longer remain joint-top of the league. They have moved down the standings to 2nd place with 25 points, three points from their midweek’s hosts at the league’s summit. On Sunday, they welcome another top-four candidate Leicester, who will want to bounce back after a 0-2 defeat to Everton at the King Power Stadium. It is their 5th defeat of the campaign, and all bar one came at home ground. The Foxes remain in 4th with 25 points ahead of their trip to London.
Tottenham have been playing some of the best football recently under Mourinho. The deadly double act of Kane and Son Heung-min that have been at the heart of their renaissance have now combined for 33 Premier League goals, the second most of any duo ever behind former Chelsea players Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard (36). Maybe it’s the early days, but the consistency, clinical approach, and relentless efficiency of Spurs under Jose Mourinho mean they resemble a side who can have a big say in the Premier League title race.
However, they were undone in midweek by the injury-plagued Liverpool side. Salah’s deflected shot looped over Hugo Lloris, but minutes later Son equalised after a trademark counter-attack. The match was one of the season’s most entertaining so far, with both sides looking for a win in after the break. Good chances fell to Kane, Bergwijn, Mane, and Salah, but it took until the 90th minute for a side to break the deadlock. Robertson’s corner found Firmino who headed home to leave Mourinho disappointed and salty after the game.
As for the Foxes, boss Brendan Rodgers has already turned Leicester from a mid-table side into Champions League hopefuls. This time last year they were second in the Premier League and looked the only side capable of keeping pace with leaders Liverpool. But their collapse over the second half of last season started in December, and now they risk following the same scenario with the next two matches against Tottenham and Manchester United in the wait. On the other hand, it offers a chance for Rodgers' side to show they are now capable of staying the distance and challenging for the title.
As for their midweek’s loss to the Toffees, The visitors took the lead through Richarlison and Mason Holgate doubled their advantage with his first-ever Everton goal. More worryingly for Rodgers, this match included more set-piece struggles - they’ve conceded seven PL goals from corners this term, two more than they did whole last season. That must be addressed if they are to establish themselves as genuine title contenders.

Tottenham have won five of their last seven top-flight meetings with Leicester (L2), scoring 21 goals in the process, while Leicester have won just one of their last nine Premier League away games against Spurs (D2 L6), in their 2015/16 title-winning season.
Tottenham suffered the first Premier League defeat in 12 Premier League games (W7 D4), since a 0-1 loss to Everton in their season opener in September.
Twenty of Tottenham's 25 Premier League goals this season have been scored by either Son (11) or Kane (9)
The Foxes are, interestingly, without a draw in the Premier League so far (W8, L5) and have lost their last three matches away to Tottenham, conceding at least three goals in each game. On the road this season, however, Leicester have won all but one of their six Premier League away matches.
