Tottenham host Newcastle in the third week of the Premier League at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (London) on Sunday, September 27 and the match kicks off at 2pm (UK).
MATCH PREVIEW
Due to coronavirus outbreak in Leyton Orient squad, this week's Tottenham's third round Carabao Cup was called off and the Spurs welcomed the unexpected rest, as they also have an Europa League qualifier against Macedonian side Shkendija on Thursday, Sep 24. All that will have taken place by the time they welcome Newcastle in their second Premier League home match, where they'll be given the chance to completely forget the failure that was their home debut against Everton (0-1).
As for Newcastle, they started their season on a high, with an 0-2 away win against West Ham, which was followed by a thorough 0-3 defeat at home at the hands of Brighton. However, they had a midweek third round Carabao Cup game, where they demolished the League Two side Morecambe (0-7). Attackers were up to the task and Steve Bruce will especially welcome the two Joelinton's goals as the striker is hoping to regain full-match fitness before the Spurs trip.
MATCH ANALYSIS
On their Premier League debut Tottenham were too pondering and slow from the blocks and Jose Mourinho, who helped them finish sixth last year, had to address the issues and make sure they brought the game to Southamptonthe following week, which they eventually did, by being more aggressive and direct. Harry Kane shone, and was Mourinho's unofficial man of the match with two disallowed goals, one actual goal, and four assists for Son Seung-Min. Meanwhile, they signed back Gareth Bale from Real Madrid and were caught amidst speculations of Dele Alli's departure. No matter what we think of Jose's coaching, it's never boring on or off the pitch with him. Thus, on Sunday, we expect a more entertaining match then on their debut, as last season's fourth-lowest scoring Premier League side pay a visit to London.
The fact that Newcastle were rock-solid at home last season, while they struggled on the road looked unremarkable last week, as Newcastle tamely lost in their home debut against Brighton. As they prepare for the trip to London, let just look at some of the more damning stats from their last season's travels. They lost eight of nine away matches last season when they conceded first. They earned just a single away point from possible twenty-four on eight occasions when they trailed at half-time. Furthermore, six of their last seven Premier League away defeats to top-six clubs in the last three seasons finished by a margin of two goals or more. If Tottenham bring their A-game on Sunday - energy, directness and fluidity - the Magpies will have a lot of problems containing them. If Steve's Bruce side can grab the opener, it might be a whole different story.

Last but not least, let's see the facts and stats. Looking back over the last decade, the two sides have played 18 times. In their head-to-head matches, Spurs have won 10 and the Magpies have won 6 , while 2 ended in a draw.
Tottenham have kept 6 clean sheets in their last 20 home games and the visitors have failed to score in 8 of their last 20 away league games.
Tottenham's home games have seen 50% of their home matches ending with both teams scoring (W6 -D1-L3), and Newcastle's percentage of their away games finishing with both teams scoring is little lower at 40% (W2-D4-L2)
Finally, when these sides have faced each other, there has been an average of 2.89 goals per game. Out of these, Tottenham have scored an average of 1.83 goals, while Newcastle have averaged 1.06.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
